I bought my saw in Nov from my local Lowes. It started fine from cold but wouldn't start after hot and had a very rough idle till it would stall out completely. After messing with it for a few nights and comparing it to dads saw [a few years older version] it was night and day between the 2, his was perfect. I adjusted the T screw for the idle and that problem was fixed. Now for the hot starting issue...With the new one piece start/choke I would flip it up and prime then pull forever and nothing. Then after looking at the picture instructions on the saw I finally seen my error. For a hot start you need to flip it up, prime it, then flip it back down to running position [cold start, you leave it up, till it "puff" starts, then put it down] and a pull or 2 later its running like a champ. I asked a local dealer about the rough idle and he said they (dealers) adjust that before you buy them, where hardware stores just sell them as is. I do like the older 2 piece start but the one piece is growing on me. Sorry for the long post but trying to help people from my mistake.

Loved my old Husky saw, so bought a new 435 when the time came for a newer model. Had problems right out of the box with the primer bulb and the saw leaked large amounts of bar and chain oil when not in use. When I could get the saw started it would not idle without stalling. Checked the carb, and there was a problem with it closing off completely just by releasing the throttle (choke lever was in run position but not catching). Combined with starting problems, I returned the saw for a new one.Read all the reviews and feedback suggesting that people weren't following the starting directions. I follow the directions to the letter and still have a hard time starting this saw. New saw, new gas, and still frequently takes over 30 pulls to start. My old saw with a decompression pin always started in several pulls. Rather than assume that a number of people are incompetent and can't follow the starting directions, maybe look at the starting ability of this model. I will not buy a HQ saw ever again.

Comments about HUSQVARNA 435:
I can't rate the performance when my new Chainsaw will not start. No help from the 800 number except to take it to the shop.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Best saw I've ever owned
I'm 62 year old and have used and owned nearly every chainsaw that's ever been made but this Husqvarna 435 has them all beat!

This saw is really powerful I use it a lot for cutting pine trees on my land that are about 80ft tall for wood as fire and building and it cuts nice I recommend it.

Good saw for occasional small jobs around the house.
As the title says great for the occasional mid size tree and branch. Mine has a problem staying running after first started, like it has a very long warm up period, or its idled down too low and won't stay running until it's gotten good and hot. Died multiple times right when it went through the end of the cut. No sure if this is made to be that way so when you cut all the way through it doesn't over Rev or not but very annoying on top when it restarts you have to let it sit and idle a while or hold constant slight throttle. Other than those two annoying issues it was great for the price and power. Didn't use much fuel at all with all the work I've used it for (only use Husqvarna fuel also), and it doesn't glob up bar oil like a lot of Poulans that in my opinion over oil. It cut through multiple different media's but the chain did not like pressure treated lumber when cutting a porch apart. Oak trees, and crape myrtles were a snap. Would recommend, and buy again if needed. Just have to get the idle fixed and sharpen the blade, that pressure treated stuff dulled it bad the first day I bought it.

Started right up after ignored for 3 years!
I used a variety of chain saws over the last 60 years, some years cutting 5 cords for my wood stove for the Massachusetts winter. A few years after I retired to SC 13 years ago, one day my old chain saw wouldn't start up after long storage, so I bought the Husqvarna 435 for occasional use. And because I new I wouldn't use it very often, I also added STA-BIL Gas Stabilizer to my gas. Before today I hadn't used it for about 3 years, just kept it wrapped in a garbage bag in the garage with a little gas in the tank and a little oil in the reservoir, and right next to it I kept its can of gas and bottle of chain oil. Today I added some of the old gas and chain oil from the last time I used it and tried to start it following the directions. I pushed the button 8 times to purge the air from the gas line, and started the 6 pulls. On the 5th pull it sputtered. I released the choke and it started right up on the 6th pull! I never had a chain saw start that reliably for me before after sitting for so long! I am so impressed! I definitely recommend this saw for anyone who wants to be prepared for occasional use!

Good saw for smaller jobs in the garden or limbing in the...
The saw came with a 16 inch bar, 0.325 pitch, 0.5 Gauge, 66 Drive links completed mounted (965 16 75-01).Its is a small saw which is easy to handle. The tilted upper handle helps to hold it in natural position. The rear handle has a grey inlay making handling even better. The bar is attached with one screw (through the clutch cover) to the saw body. For this small saw it is ok. The upper cover can be removed with quick-release holders, a nice feature in this price class. The engine starts easy with some pulls.Cutting in different positions goes easy and with the safety chain the saw comes with its also safe.My friend uses this saw for occasional firewood cutting and felling of minor trees. Bigger trees we fell together with my bigger Husky 61.Allover I recommend this saw for occational users which are not trained on chain saws. But as all chain saws it must be handled with respect, not with fear.

A nice lite chainsaw with a 16" Bar
from Hancocks Bridge,NJ
Wow-This is really a nice lite saw with a lot of punch for a 16" Bar. I love all the special features too, like the see thru fuel gauge on the end, the easily removable top cover, and the one bar nut brake/ clutch cover, easy access for chain changes. Husqvarna you have made another wonderful product, Thanks again.

Best saw so far!
from Northern Michigan
once you read the directions it starts every time. Took down 12 pines this weekend for the saws first use. Worked flawlessly! I use to buy the Stihl saws, never again. This performs better and the parts are cheaper! I love this saw!!
