Trapped – Automower® error message
The Trapped message appears when Automower® encounters multiple loop or collision events within a short period of time.
Common causes
- Obstacles: The mower is stuck behind an obstacle, such as outdoor furniture.
- Narrow passages: The work area includes small or narrow passages that the mower struggles to navigate.
- Grass too high: The grass is too long.
- Grass chunks: Grass chunks are preventing the blade disc from rotating.
How to resolve it
Move the mower and remove obstacles
If an object is blocking the mower’s path, move the mower to an area free of obstacles, remove the obstacles and restart the mower. See How to restart or reset your Automower® robotic lawn mower.
Isolate obstacles
If the mower always gets trapped in the same spot (e.g. under a children’s trampoline), create a stay-out zone or an island to isolate the problematic area and restart the mower. If it still collides with the obstacle, expand the isolated area.
For more details, see: How to create an island in a boundary wire installation, How to create a stay-out zone with AIM Technology, and How to create work areas, stay-out zones and transport paths with EPOS® wire free technology
Adjust work areas and stay-out zones
Ensure that work areas and stay-out zones provide enough space for the mower to operate. If the work area is too small, the mower may get trapped.
Wire free (EPOS®) installations: Follow these steps to adjust your work areas and stay-out zones in the Automower® Connect app.
- Go to the map section in the app.
- Tap the work area or stay-out zone you want to edit.
- Scroll down and tap Edit.
- Tap the point and select the distance for moving the point.
- Repeat with the desired points.
- Tap Save.
Boundary wire installations: If the area between the boundary wire and an island or object is too small, move the boundary wire to create more space. For more details, see: How to install the boundary wire in an Automower® installation.
Clean the mower regularly
Keep the mower clean and free of grass chunks that can prevent the blade disc from rotating. See more tips on How to clean your Automower® robotic lawn mower.
Maintain grass height
Ensure that the grass does not exceed the maximum height recommended for your Automower® model, as this can cause the mower to become stuck.
