Monthly chainsaw maintenance

Your operator’s manual outlines general maintenance instructions, paying close attention to essential parts of the saw. These tips can minimise problems and help to create efficient and safe operating conditions.
An effective maintenance programme should also include scheduled maintenance visits and a product support relationship with your local authorised service centre.

Please note that all of the maintenance items described in this section have supporting diagrams in our product operator’s manuals:

  1. Check the brake band on the chain brake for wear. Replace when the most worn point is less than 0.6 mm (0.024 inches).
  2. Check the clutch centre, clutch drum and clutch spring for wear.
  3. Clean the spark plug; check that the electrode gap is 0.5 mm (0.02 inches).
  4. Clean the outside of the carburettor.
  5. Check the fuel hose for cracks or other damage; change if necessary.
  6. Empty the fuel tank and clean the inside.
  7. Empty the oil tank and clean the inside.
  8. Check all cables and connections.

Important! Before operating your chainsaw, make sure that you review the chainsaw operator and safety manuals thoroughly. These manuals include safety warnings, the machine’s safety features and their functions, safe starting techniques, and inspection and maintenance requirements that will help to extend the machine’s life span.
