Cuts wood like butter but the chain can't stay lubricated

About Me Do-It-Yourself
Comments about 450 Rancher II:
I purchased this 450 chainsaw for my farm a little over two years ago. I had problems getting it started and was on the phone for half an hour to get it started. Since then no problems starting. I noticed a puddle of oil under the bar in September. Odd. Why would a positive displacement oil pump system drain the bar oil tank? I've made only 40 cuts ranging from 5" to 15". Refilled the chain oil tank put on a new chain. Got 8 cuts on a 8-10" choke cherry and the chain was fried. Another person at work told me he was having problems with his Oiler as well. We both discovered we had the same 450 chainsaw. Same puddle of oil. I would like to opt to a battery powered (PDP or metering) pump that flow can be adjusted for bar length and oil viscosity due to temp. With some sort of flow indicator tickler LED to tell me there is an active flow of oil at/to the chain. I use nothing but new bar and chain oil and use an old toothbrush to brush away any sawdust at the fill cap before opening. This is my third chain saw and I've cut wood for over 40 hours. I would recommend to a friend if this Oiler issue is resolved.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Well worth the investment!
We have used it for one year now clearing land for hunting food plots and bucking downed trees from storm damage. My favorite thing is how easy it is to crank and the balance comes in a close second. My wife and I have been wanting one for a long time and after talking family that uses various husqvarna and other professional saws year round decided to make a commitment. It's been a great saw for us we purchased the hard case with it for protection and it carries most all tools that you need including oil and fuel.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

What a disappointment. Please think twice. Read my comments
from VA Beach
I owned this chainsaw for a little over a year now and the experience has been anything but pleasant. First off, the first couple of months it was so frustrating since most times I couldn't even get the chainsaw started and not by lack of experience and following the instructions to the T. But once I got it started then it performed as a chainsaw for as long as the chain stayed sharp which it wasn't that long around 15 cuts of firewood around 12 to 16 inches in diameter. Now the chainsaw starts without hesitation and I'm even able to squeeze around 20 cut of a single chain. But this is no happy ending. Because the mediocre performance of the chain I decided to buy another chain. I took the chainsaw to Land & Coates Inc in VA Beach to get the right chain for the chainsaw they recommended only one and I bought. First time I used the saw with the new chain it worked flawlessly. With the new chain, i was getting around 60 cuts. At this point, I thought all my problems are over. On my fifth time of using the saw with the new chain disaster stroke again. The sprocket was broken. At this point, the saw is only about 7 or 8 months old. How could this be? A new saw with minimal use is just falling apart. Called customer service and they referred me to their local repair facility Beach Lawn & Garden Inc, in VA Beach. Took the saw in and the rep asked what chain I used I showed the new chain that I've got from Land & Coates Inc. I was told that the reason that the sprocket was because of the new chain gauge and that it was not covered under the warranty. I decided to pay out of pocket for the new sprocket and after the third use of the saw with the right chain and the new sprocket, the sprocket is broken again and the gear wheel oil pump and the piston pump are completely disintegrated.I depend on this saw for survival as I attempt to build a cabin in the Apalachian Mountains and in these coming winter months i'm hesitatnt in relying in this piece of junk of a chainsaw
