Husqvarna's SG13 stump grinder is a well-balanced, maneuverable machine that provides commercial power and high productivity. The new cutting system provides sharper, faster cutting due to reduced weight and a unique tooth design. Cutting teeth are available for various soil conditions and feature three independent edges to effectively triple the use of the tooth. The teeth can be rotated in a matter of seconds using a 9/16’’ wrench. The machine's stability, balance and adjustable handle allow you to grind objects up to 12" below the ground while maintaining a comfortable and safe stance throughout the stump grinding job.

Way over priced considering performance

Comments about HUSQVARNA SG13:
I have over a 100hrs on this machine, my take...pros;great motor, size and weight, easy to adjust belts, has a clutch for engagement of the cutter wheel.Cons; tires are way to small and make it very difficult to traverse over anything but smooth terrain. The brake should be located on the handle!! Trying to roll down ramps is treacherous trying to hold the brake and handle at the same time! Performance is half what it should be, it appears the is gearing of the cutter wheel is wrong and the motor can't maintain rpm even with a light load. I changed the pullie on the cutter wheel and it helped tremendously. This grinder is great for its size for going through most hardwoods, white pine isn't too bad either. Pitch pine and other fiberous material is extremely frustrating due to lack of power (gearing) and the type of teeth. Green teeth work much better as on say a Dosko with the same motor. That being said this unit is very close to being a 5 star machine with a few improvements however is currently over priced compared to much more capable models in its class.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Made the jobs easy!
By The Compliance Officer
My department has recently purchased this machine in order to help accommodate those, who's tree's we've cut down. A lot of in town yards, within the city limits, and even some who were out in the sticks a ways. Didn't matter how big the stump, or how hard the wood was, it ate it up. A few short safety lessons and practice runs in how to start, use the tool wisely, and basic maintenance know how, and the workers say it's even a little fun grinding the stumps up.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

homeowner with 80 stumps
from Southern NH
3 years still going strong. I had 82 trees removed and over a year and a half removed all the stumps with this unit. Some of the stumps measured 36"x48" at the crown. 100 year old pines, oak and hemlock. only issue I had with the unit is the engine (Honda 13 hp) was running way to rich. After a couple hours the muffler caught fire. I just read the manual and adjusted the carb and no issues. All parts except teeth of course still original to the machine.

SG-13 starts easily and grinds stumps effectively. Two people can roll it up ramps to load. When grinding on sloped land, work should begin at the highest point and then tack down the hill for other stumps. The only weakness is lack of self-powered capability.

will not hold up to the task
i have many husqvarna products and would highly recomend all exept the stump qrinder it has been in for repair to many times broken spindle, gas in the oil, valve job, muffler keeps vibrating off, cracked frame, the bearing housing broke completely off, thank GOD i have a good machine shop near by to make modifications to this to make it safe to operate. i have to much money tied up in this or i would take it to the land fill. if it were a horse i would shoot it. ps my dealer is very good and have no complaints on them , you just cant fix junk.... God bless the enginer.
