Comments about HUSQVARNA 345FR:
I have been working this machine hard clearing sweet gum and privet. It camewith the scarlet blade but the maxi works a lot better. I chose this unit because I didn't want to spend an extra 500 dollars dollars for the 555. If you are going to use it mostly as a clearing saw then spend the extra and go big. I've had no issues with performance but the extra 10 cc's would have been welcomed. I run the machine several hours at a time with no where near the fatigue I get with the chain saw. I have cleared areas in a fraction of time it would have taken me when using a chainsaw. The tri-blade works great on brush but make sure you are covered up with the proper PPE. The string trimmer is good but I did not like mowing with it because it absolutely pulverizes grass and you wear most of it so I prefer the brush blade for that. This has been the best and most versatile machine I have purchased.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

This saw was so MUCH more than I could have thought. Just swiped thru trees like i couldn't believe. Was very hard to decide on spending this much, didn't think it would perform. Was i wrong. started to get the 555, the bigger one. No telling what that thing would cut. I am more than happy with the 345. I have several Husqvarna saws, weedeaters, mowers, blowers, and this is by far my FAVORITE. I cleared more fence rows in less time than ever.CANT GO WRONG WITH THIS SAW!!BRADKENTUCKY

Ok but not great
from Forest City, CAlifornia
I bought this brush cutter to use up at a cabin in the California Gold Country. The first time I used it at my cabin, the machine ran horribly. I figured I needed to adjust the carburetor fuel mixture because the cabin sits at 4500 ft. I attempted to adjust the carburetor so I could get full power but the EPA limiting clips prevented me from getting enough adjustment to make the machine run properly. I brought the cutter to a shop in Nevada City and the guy had it running great in about 2 minutes. It seems they make a special splined tool for certified mechanics to adjust 2 cycle carburetors and consumers aren't trusted to make these adjustments. In the process of diagnosing the carburetor problem, I saw that the air filter was full of dirt and I was wondering how this happened. I examined where the air enters the air filter compartment and it's on the underside of the machine. If you start the machine or place it on the ground running, and the ground is dirty, you will suck all kinds of debris into the air filter. I would start it on clean concrete, but my cabin is surrounded by dirt and grass. My solution is to start the machine tilted on it's side with the filter side up so I don't excessively contaminate the air filter. This is a really bonehead design and Husqvarna should fix this on future models. My next trip to the cabin, the cutter ran poorly again but I had already figured out how to defeat the EPA clip by pushing it in with a tiny screwdriver while I used another to turn the screw. I was able to get the carburetor adjusted and the machine ran well.On the subject of the carburetor, I'm wondering why this one is so finicky. I own a Stihl MS261 chainsaw and the thing works flawlessly at sea level and at the the cabin elevation. I also know people who own Husqvarna chainsaws and they too have never had to fool with the fuel mixture screws to get it running properly. The carburetor on this machine is not user friendly but luckily I'm mechanically inclined and can deal with fine tuning the carburetor at every elevation I use it at.I was hoping for a better experience using this brush cutter but I can only give this 3 stars due to carburetor and air filter issues. It's mine now and I'll make the most of it, but I wish it was more like my chainsaw and just worked great without all the tinkering around and special care to not get junk into the air filter.Hope this review helps you decide on your purchase.

Stands up to commercial use
This machine is well thought out and a real work horse. I own four of them and am ordering two more soon. My company specializes in vegetation management and these machines work day in and day out for weeks at a time. They start every morning and require limited maintenance. The only problems I have had are the rubber gasket that seals out dirt at the carb and intake cracked and the kill switch wire loosened up and failed on one of the machines. That is after hundreds if not thousands of hours of use among all four machines

We bought this machine to keep old logging road open and to cut new trails for cross country skiing on our property in Maine. The tool is amazing, enabling use to cut a mile of new trail in an afternoon thru heavy woods on steep slopes. My brother, who is not a tool guy, loves this machine. It is well balanced and very powerful. We have had no problems with it and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a serious machine to clean a bush and small trees on any kind of terrain.

excellent, hard working machine
I take care of two large properties over 500 acres. there is alot of brushcutting/clearing involved. Since I purchased this machine it has been getting quite the workout. I have used it all day without my hands going numb from vibration. I am very pleased with the feul consumption as it will run for around an hour on a full tank. using the array of heads that come with it it cuts anything out there. Changing the heads and guards are fairly quick and easy. The harness was well thought out, with the adjustments for it you can use the brushcutter all day with no problems.

This brush cutter destroys brush
This is the first brush cutter I've owned and wow what a machine. It makes short work of heavy brush and saplings. No problem cutting 2-3 inch diameter saplings. this machine is built well, a little heavy but the full body harness helps a lot. There is a quick disconnect feature on the body harness that allows you to take it loose from the harness for refueling or just taking a break without removing the entire harness. Changing the saw blade and adding the grass blade or trimmer head is very easy and quick. This cutter is bad to the bone.
