This mower has all the power I need. Cuts great and runs awesome. Once I learned to drive it I have been impressed with the way it handles. I have mowed with this mower 23 hrs and have had no problems great machine.

Hard to turn
I bought the R254 to replace a smaller J.D. zero turn mower. First time I had to figure out steering since it did handle different than my other. Very very difficult to turn....Read complete review
I bought the R254 to replace a smaller J.D. zero turn mower. First time I had to figure out steering since it did handle different than my other. Very very difficult to turn. If there is a slight hill you need to turn up it will spin the tire. Have to virtually go straight up. I have a slope on my property and when those back tires barely touch the slope I start sliding down it backward. Also bad on gas. I could mow 4 acres with my other mower where this one I am lucky to get an acre an a half. Also another flaw is that you do not know how much gas is in the tank when mowing. No indicator nothing. So you are more likely to run out of gas if you are not paying attention.

My First Zero Turn Mower

I have about 1 acre of grass (some weed fields) to mow. Steering is very sensitive and took me a good 10-20 minutes to 'get the hang of it', like the manual says. You barely have to move the handles in one direction to make a turn. So, it does take time to get used to it especially if you've never used a zero-turn mower. I have Husqvarna edger and blower and have not had any issues and so far this mower is a blast to drive. Now, I look forward to mowing my yard.
DO NOT PURCHASE!!!!!

I have had this mower for 1 year and it's in the shop for the 2nd time. The deck adjustments are very minamal. If I could do it all over again I would've done more homework. Mower only has 26hrs and it's spent more time in the shop then on my property!

From the beginning we have problems, they exchange the z254 2 times because something mayor was wrong with it. After that the z254 still giving problems with the transmission and the power difference in the rear tires. One side go fast and great and the other slow and no power. Last time husqu---. To much money for a problem

I mow 5 acres I had a poulan pro 48" tractor that was over ten years old. I was ready to buy a new tractor but my sons told me I should buy a zero turn. I am 65 and was a little worried about driving a zero turn mower. I bought it at sutherlands where I had bought my tractor ten years earlier. It took me about 2 hours to get comfortable driving a zero turn. I have had it for two years. I have 220 hours on it and could not be happier. It cut my mowing time by at least 30% and my weed eating by 50%. I live in the Ozarks so I mow on hills and fairly rough ground. This mower has handled the rough ground great. I would never go back to a tractor. I would buy this mower again and highly recommend it.

Deck is terrible want cut taller weed type grasses I have had mower for 2 years deck problems ever since I bought front wheels squeak continuously husky arms and dealer recommended removing front baffles to help with cutting issues didn't work back baffles broke loose and destroyed my center spindle and blade mower has been at dealer for a month and half now waiting on parts all around worst mower I have ever owned recommend kubota or johndeere for my next purchase

Would not recommend

Mower itself seems to be fine but only 21 hours on mower blades and belts already worn completely out.it has never cut in sand or rocks just plain old clean grass never hit a stump or rock but there is nothing left of blades.I has not been used enough to comment in the rest of the machine.
