About Me Do-It-Yourself
Comments about Husqvarna S427:
I have a country property in southern Ontario. I heat mostly by wood in the winter and go through a lot of wood! The wood in my bush is ash, red oak and cherry. I ordered the S427 splitter after looking at other manufactures and it came about a month later as there weren't any in ontario. I went to the dealer to pick up and brought it home and put the splitter to its test and work for the afternoon... I had some narly cherry logs to split as I hadn't been able to split them with a splitting maul... The splitter went through them like butter!!! In two hrs of work with the splitter I had split more wood than several days with the maul could have produced! Therefore, work smarter not harder!!! The s427 splitter saves tones of time and works well! I would recommend this splitter to whoever is looking for a splitter. I have worked with husqvarna saws for years so I wanted this splitter as well!

I have owned this for about 1 year now and only thing that i had a small problem is the lever that im goes into the ram has came loose a few times and the first time i didnt realize it was leaking out oil. Tighted it a few times now no problems. I have but the most toughest wood through it. One log a friends 20 tonn splitter. Couldnt split it. Well it had no troubles with a big knotty arbutus. If you but a piece in that has a big knot i find its best too have the knot closest too the blade side as it will cut right through it. If its on the other end it still goes through it but more smashes it with lots of broken pieces. Big 4ft dia douglas firs no troubles other than moving it on to it as its 300lbs for one round. Used in the verticle position. If you need for hard to split wood then its a good one for that. Not sure you will need more power. I cant see any wood harder than what grows here on Vancouver Island. Britith Columbia Canada.

I am a landowner and the splitter making a good job for me.
I love this wood splitter!
from New Hampshire
I have had good luck with my Husqvarna chain saws, so took the plunge on their wood splitter, and am very happy I did! The machine is well-designed and construction is clean and sturdy. I have put two full cords of red oak tops through it, with many crotches and embedded branch stubs. It only refused to split twice, but turning the block around solved that. Normally, it just powers through knots and cross grain, shearing the wood fibers. My only issue has been the height of the log cradle; I am 6 feet tall and on the ground the machine was just a little low and I began feeling strain in my back. I raised the rig with 3" blocks, and now no problem. I highly recommend this unit to anyone seeking a well-priced work horse splitter. You can pay more, but why?
Great for very hard too split wood
from Detroit, MI
I Bought it for when i get wood that is too hard too split by hand. It splits through knots that are 6" dia. Douglas fir 4ft dia. With ease. Arbutus no troubles. It goes through slow when its hard im very happy with it. I wished it was CSA approved so i could insure it for pulling it down the road is the only thing.
