A great saw all around
I have owned this saw for a little over three years (so off warranty). I do not use it very much so I only have about two gallons of fuel through it. I have fell a few pine trees and cut up winter blow downs all on my land. I felt the saw was really under powered for the twenty four inch bar the dealer sold it with. I live in forest fire country so I need a dependable saw that will fell good sized trees quickly. I was using it to rip a twelve inch pine log and ran out of fuel. Then it would not start. I took the saw to the dealer who said I ran non-mixed fuel and burned up the top end of the motor (they really did not look at it, just took the muffler off). They wanted more to fix the saw then it is worth. So I brought it home and took it apart. I found plenty of oil in the crank case, badly scored piston and cylinder at the exhaust port side, and an air leak between the cylinder and case gasket. I believe that leak was from the factory. It was sufficient to cause a lean fuel/air mixture but small enough that, with the auto tune, the saw would start and run. Eventually the inevitable happened. The bottom line for me is that Husqvarna has poor manufacturing and even worse dealer support. I will not be buying any more Husqvarna products, fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.

I love this saw very zippy lots of power and very light weight slim build very beautiful saw. Only thing I don't care about is the auto tune wish I can adjust the card and jets.

The Husquavarna 555 is my first chainsaw I've owned. I've used the older Poulan 4000s, several professional STIHL models, and even some of the Echos and Homelite saws you see at Home Depot.
The power the 555 puts out is extraordinary, and feels more even, at full throttle and deep in a tree, than any other saw I have used.
I've used this saw for a couple years now and have long since lost track of how many cords of wood I've cut. Durability has been excellent. I take excellent care of my cutting equipment, but am not bashful about putting it through the paces. I live and work in Alaska, and the environment that this saw is used in can be 60F and sunny, or -40F and colder. I have had no problems starting the saw at -10F, though it does take a few more than two pulls. This saw has definitely held up in every weather condition I've used it, and with no signs of failing me.
The ergonomics of this saw a pretty good. It took me several cutting sessions to really get the feel of it, but can use it for days on end now. The features that this saw has are the best I've seen on any saw so far. The AutoTune feature was new to me when I purchased this saw and has worked out very well. I have not had any performance issues with it. Also, the semi-clear fuel level window is absolutely great.
I don't think any saw I've ever used has topped the performance of this one. It truly uses less fuel than the other saws I've used. A full tank of fuel and bar oil typically goes to 1.5 tanks of fuel and bar oil of the STIHLs I've run. So far there is no tree that has not submitted to the 555. I cut anything from 1in diameter brush to 36in diameter Spruce using an 18in bar with no problem.
The overall value of this saw compared to how well it has performed and held up is good. It's not a cheap saw by any means, but I expect it will continue to get the job done long into the future.
I highly recommend this saw to anyone who cuts wood as a primary heating source, needs something easy to handle for smaller land clearing applications, or even for taking care of the larger trees around the property.
This saw is very well designed and solid. It starts every time, cold or hot, on the first, second or occasionally third pull. The saw paired with an 18 inch 0.50 bar goes through oak and hickory like butter. I was able to cut at least a half a season's firewood with one tank of fuel in perhaps an hour or so. The saw has great balance and feels very powerful yet nimble. The controls are straight forward and features like the keeper bar nuts are priceless. I highly recommend it for anyone who cuts wood for their primary heat source.
I've had this saw for over a year now.
I use it for clearing dead timber out here in Colo. where I use it on a weekly basis for 3-4 longs days at at a time.
Only once did I think I had a problem.
I've cut a lot of larger timber of 24-30 inch sizes and bogged it down a little too much at times.
There was a day when I thought it got too hot and saw smoke, but it ended up being dirt-saw dust or spilled bar oil under the exhaust.
Just to be sure, I took it in to a local mechanic who works on husky and stihl, and he said its fine, tried reproducing the problem and couldn't replicate it.
I took it home, put a new chain on it, cleaned under the exhaust, and it runs great.
I've found with some professional saws that they don't always start that easy when starting cold.
But if you warm it up in the winter by letting it sit inside near the fire place for 15 minutes, it'll start easy like you've had it running for hours.
I use to fight fire for the U.S. Forest Service on two type I shot crews and a helitack crew, and husqvarna has been great!
And I was never good with adjusting for elevation, so the autotune is great to have.
This is my very first saw. I did EXTENSIVE research for over six months before deciding on the Husky 555. I wanted something high quality at the best price point for the overall best value.
This meant not going with any of the homeowner or ranch saws since they are mostly plastic components that will be more susceptible to cracking and breakage.
I hesitated going with a commercial saw because they are more expensive and I don't work for a tree company.
Then I found the perfect match, the darkhorse of saws, the Husqvarna 555.
It has commercial grade components (i.e. magnesium crankcase) but without the other fancypants features of more expensive commercial saws.
The price was fair, paid $550.
This is a solidly powerful saw at 60cc and comes equiped with other excellent features such as:
Autotune - no carb adjustments needed and X -Torq - sips fuel for less refueling
I have now bucked 9 cords of logs and I have no regrets. It gets the job done.
After using a buddys 357XP I decided it was time to replace my 30 year old echo - the echo still runs excellent - but man are these new saws nice to operate!
Smooth, low vibration and fast cutting - and with a 24in bar the 555 weighs1.5 lbs less than my old echo 65cc saw with a 20 in bar!
The 555 is a great saw, and a good value.
This thing beats the heck out of any other 60cc farm/ranch saw I don't care what make (lighter and more powerful). It is also $200 more than a farm/ranch saw. You get what you pay for.

i was really unsure of the self adjusting carb at first. But this saw has been amazing !
