Frequently asked questions

How does the Husqvarna 135 Mark II differ from the 120 and 130 models?

While all three use a 38cc engine, the 135 Mark II is built for higher performance and easier maintenance. It produces more power (2.1 hp) compared to the 120 (1.88 hp) and features a significantly faster chain speed (55 ft/s vs 16 m/s on the 120). Additionally, the 135 Mark II includes a side-mounted chain tensioner and a quick-access cylinder cover, features typically found on professional saws that make adjustments and filter cleaning much faster.

What is the correct starting procedure for a cold Husqvarna 135 Mark II?

To start a cold 135 Mark II, first engage the chain brake by pushing the guard forward. Press the air purge bulb 6 times until fuel is visible. Pull the blue choke lever out fully. Pull the starter rope until the engine "pops" (usually within 5 pulls), then immediately push the choke lever in to the half-way/fast-idle position. Pull again until it starts, then blip the throttle to return to a normal idle.

What bar and chain combinations are compatible with the 135 Mark II?

The 135 Mark II is optimized for a 16-inch guide bar, but it can also be fitted with a 14-inch bar for increased maneuverability. It uses a 3/8" mini pitch chain with a .050" gauge (specifically the Husqvarna X-CUT® S93G).

How often does the Air Injection™ system on the 135 Mark II need maintenance?

The Air Injection™ centrifugal system removes up to 97% of dust before it reaches the filter, meaning you only need to clean the air filter every 10 hours of heavy use and replace once a season. To clean it, remove the quick-release cylinder cover, pop the filter out, and wash it with warm soapy water. Avoid using compressed air, as it can puncture the fine mesh and allow debris into the engine.

Why is my Husqvarna 135 Mark II stalling when I give it gas?

Stalling under acceleration is often caused by a dirty spark arrestor screen or stale fuel. First, inspect the small mesh screen on the muffler; if it's clogged with carbon, the engine can't "breathe." If the screen is clean, ensure you are using a 50:1 mix of fresh, ethanol-free gas. For storage longer than 30 days, we recommend using Husqvarna XP+ Pre-Mixed Fuel to prevent carburetor clogs caused by ethanol degradation.
