Reliable chainsaw performance for various garden tasks

Powerful doesn’t have to mean big with the Husqvarna 130. This reliable gas saw features our proprietary X-TORQ® engine to deliver superior performance, increased fuel efficiency and low emissions. Air Injection™ technology improves engine life by expelling larger dust and debris particles before they reach the air filter. And LowVib® technology keeps this saw comfortable to use, no matter the task.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the Husqvarna 130 and the 120 Mark II?

While both saws feature a 38cc engine, the Husqvarna 130 is a more modern, efficient design. It delivers higher cutting power (2.0 hp vs. 1.88 hp) and a faster chain speed, making it noticeably quicker for limbing and firewood. Additionally, the 130 features a more advanced LowVib® system and an improved starter housing, providing a more "professional" feel and better durability for homeowners who use their saw regularly.

Can I use an 18-inch bar on the Husqvarna 130?

The Husqvarna 130 is optimized for a 14-inch or 16-inch bar. It is not recommended to be used with an 18-inch bar. The 2.0 hp engine is designed for high chain speed and efficiency; a longer bar increases drag and can cause the engine to overheat or the clutch to wear prematurely. For consistent 18-inch performance, we recommend stepping up to the 440 or 450 Rancher.

How do I properly start the Husqvarna 130 to avoid engine flooding?

To start a cold 130, first press the Air Purge (primer bulb) 6 times until fuel is visible. Pull the blue choke lever out fully, place the saw on level ground, and pull the starter rope until the engine "pops" (usually 2–5 pulls). Immediately push the choke lever halfway in and pull again until it starts. Once running, blip the throttle to release the fast-idle setting. If the engine is already warm, skip the choke entirely and simply use the primer bulb if the saw has sat for more than 5 minutes.

What type of chain and file size does the Husqvarna 130 use?

The Husqvarna 130 typically comes equipped with an X-CUT® S93G chain (3/8" mini pitch, .050" gauge). For sharpening, you should use a 5/32" (4.0 mm) round file. Using the correct X-CUT chain is vital for the 130, as it is a "low-vibration, low-kickback" design specifically engineered to maximize the cutting speed of smaller displacement engines.

Is the Husqvarna 130 suitable for felling trees?

The Husqvarna 130 is an "Occasional Use" saw best suited for pruning, limb removal, and cutting firewood up to 10–12 inches in diameter. While it can fell small trees (under 10 inches), it is not intended for heavy-duty forestry work or felling large hardwoods. If your primary task is dropping mature trees, a larger "All-Round" saw like the Husqvarna 435 or 445 would be a more efficient and safer choice.
