How-To's & Guides

Automower® and IFTTT

The IFTTT app works with iOS 10.0 and later, and Android 5.0 and later. IFTTT is an easy way to start integrating Automower® even more into your smart home. With IFTTT you have the possibility to personalise and get more flexibility. You decide how to interact with Husqvarna Automower®.

Getting started with the Smart Connections in the Automower® Connect app

Using the Smart Connections in the Automower® Connect app, you can for example let your Google Calendar events control your Automower® robotic mower on top of the normal mowing schedule.

The Smart Connections in the Automower® Connect app are based on so called IFTTT (If This Then That) applets. An IFTTT applet is a way to get your apps and devices talking to each other. It enables you to do something that the apps or devices could not do on their own.

This article will help you get started using the Smart Connections in the Automower® Connect app.

Requirements

To use the Smart Connections in the Automower® Connect app, you need the following:

  • A mower with Wi-Fi or cellular connectivity, or a mower with an Automower® Connect kit installed.
  • The Automower® Connect app.
  • An iOS or Android device.

Getting started

To access the available Smart Connections in your Automower® Connect app, tap the menu button to select Smart Home. Now an automatic check is done to see if there is an IFTTT account already connected to your Automower® Connect account.

  • If you have already connected your IFTTT account to your Automower® Connect account, you can use the Smart Connections out of the box. See Activate a Smart Connection for more information.
  • If you have not connected an IFTTT account to your Automower® Connect account, follow the instructions below.

Connect an IFTTT account to your Automower® Connect account

Select one of the two options below, depending on if you have an IFTTT account or not.

  • Connect an existing IFTTT account to your Automower® Connect account
If you already have an IFTTT account used for other purposes and want to use the same account for connecting to Automower® Connect, simply enter the email address used for your existing IFTTT account. A verification email will now be sent to that email address to make sure you entered the correct information. Look for the verification email in your inbox and click the link in that email. You need to do this on the same device as you are using Automower® Connect on. When the verification is done, your existing IFTTT account is connected to your Automower® Connect account.

  • Create an IFTTT account and connect it to your Automower® Connect account
If you do not have an IFTTT account, Automower® Connect will create one for you. Just enter an email address and tap Connect. (The email address you use to login to your Automower® Connect account will be pre-populated, but you can change it to another if you want to.) When your IFTTT account has been created you will get an email to the specified email address asking you to set a password for your account. For the best experience when using the Smart Connections we recommend you to set a password, especially if you use multiple devices to control your Automower® robotic mower.

Activate a Smart Connection

To enable a Smart Connection, just select the Smart Connection in the Automower® Connect app and tap the Connect slider. Then follow the instructions on the screen to set up the connection as desired.

You can always disable the connection again by tapping the slider once more.

Note that you first have to allow IFTTT to access the service and data that you want to use. For example, if you want to use an IFTTT connection that uses your Google Calendar you will need to allow it to access your Google Calendar and its data.

Edit the Smart Connection settings

To edit the Smart Connection settings, select a connection and tap the settings icon.

Make the desired changes and tap Save.
