Unable to create a docking point—Automower® with EPOS® wire free technology error message
The error message Unable to create docking point indicates that the mower cannot determine a reliable position for the docking point during EPOS® wire free setup. This is usually caused by limited satellite reception or connectivity issues.
Follow the troubleshooting steps below to resolve the issue.
1. Move the mower to an area with open sky view
The docking point requires a clear view of the sky to receive satellite signals. Dense trees, buildings, or other obstacles may interfere with positioning.
- Use the app to drive the mower to an open area of the lawn with a clear sky view.
- Wait until the EPOS status in the app is confirmed. The check symbol will turn green. See image below.
- Drive the robotic lawnmower back to the charging station.
- Retry creating the docking point.
2. Adjust the docking point distance
- If the charging station is placed close to a house wall or other building, set the distance to the maximum recommended length to achieve better satellite visibility.
- If there are obstacles or buildings opposite the charging station, such as a building across the lawn from the charging station, you may need to shorten the distance instead.
- If creating the docking point still fails after adjusting the distance, you may need to move the charging station to an area where the docking point gets better sky visibility.
3. Ensure stable Wi-Fi coverage (EPOS® installation via the Husqvarna Cloud)
- If your mower only supports Wi-Fi and uses EPOS® via the Husqvarna Cloud, it needs Wi-Fi coverage throughout the entire work area to operate and complete the docking point setup.
- Make sure there is stable Wi-Fi coverage in the whole work area, including around the charging station.
How to check Wi-Fi coverage
To verify that your lawn has sufficient Wi-Fi coverage:
- Use a smartphone connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the mower.
- Walk through the docking point area and surrounding parts of the lawn.
- Check the Wi-Fi signal strength on your phone.
- The Wi-Fi symbol should show at least one bar for the mower to operate reliably.

What is the docking point?
- The docking point is the spot your robotic lawn mower uses to locate and return to the charging station.
- When the mower leaves the charging station, it stops at the docking point before heading to the work area.
- When returning to the charging station, the mower reaches the docking point and uses the signal from the charging station to find its way back.
Docking point requirements
- Position the charging station (A) so that the docking point (B) has a clear view of the sky (C).
- Leave at least 6 metres (20 feet) of free space in front of the charging station (C).
- For mowers that only support Wi-Fi using EPOS via the Husqvarna Cloud, stable Wi-Fi coverage is necessary for operation and to complete the docking point setup.
Docking point setup
How is the docking point created?
- During EPOS® setup for Automower®, the app automatically creates the docking point.
- Once you tap “Drive to docking point”, the mower drives itself to the correct position according to the reversing distance set in the app.
- You can adjust the distance between the charging station and the docking point. A shorter distance helps minimise track marks.
