Automower® won’t charge or keeps leaving the charging station
What to check first
What to check first
If Automower® is not charging, or docks and then immediately leaves the charging station again, start with these checks:
- Check the charging station light. The light indicates the charging status. If the light is off, see Why is the light on the Automower® charging station off?. If the light is solid red, see What does a solid red light on the charging station mean?.
- Check the docking contact. Make sure the robotic lawn mower sits squarely in the charging station with the charging plates making full contact. Remove any leaves, grass clippings or debris from the docking area and from the charging contacts on both Automower® and the charging station. If the robotic lawn mower repeatedly fails to dock, see Charging station blocked.
- Check the battery temperature. Automower® will not charge if the battery temperature is outside the accepted range. See Battery temperature outside limits.
- After winter storage: If the robotic lawn mower was stored without a full charge, the battery may be too deeply discharged to begin charging normally. Bring Automower® indoors, place it on the charging station and leave it for several hours. See Automower® won’t start or keeps stopping for more guidance on post-winter startup.
Empty battery error message
Causes and solutions for the
Causes and solutions for the
The message Empty battery appears when Automower® does not have sufficient battery capacity to locate the charging station. These are the common causes and how to resolve them.
1. Guide wire issues
The guide cable might be incorrectly positioned, faulty or broken, preventing Automower® from finding its way home. Ensure the guide wire is undamaged and correctly positioned.
2. Search settings
Incorrect search settings can prevent Automower® from locating the charging station. Review and adjust the settings in the Automower® Connect app under Menu > Settings > Installation > Find charging station.
3. Secondary Area mode
If Automower® is set to Secondary Area mode instead of Main Area mode, change the setting to Main Area mode. After mowing a secondary area, Automower® needs to be placed manually back in the main area and the correct area mode must be selected.
4. Obstacles and stay-out zones
Ensure the path to the charging station is clear by removing any obstacles that might block the way. This also includes stay-out zones that could prevent access to the charging station.
5. Charging station installation
If the charging station is not installed correctly, Automower® may have difficulties docking. Ensure the charging station is on a flat surface with enough free space around it, and that the cables are properly connected.
