Automower® robotic lawn mower not following scheduled cutting times

If your Husqvarna Automower® robotic lawn mower isn’t operating according to its schedule, this guide will help you quickly identify the cause and get your lawn mower back on track.

Understanding normal operation

Your Automower follows a programmed schedule but also responds to battery levels, weather conditions and safety features. Sometimes what appears to be a problem is actually the lawn mower working as designed.

Normal behaviour includes:

  • Returning to charge when battery is low
  • Pausing when daily operating limits are reached
  • Adjusting to weather and grass growth patterns (optional setting)
  • Responding to temperature safety thresholds

Quick diagnostic checklist

Before troubleshooting, check these common indicators:

  • Is the lawn mower displaying any error messages?
  • Check the app status: Does it show “Parked” or “Today’s mowing complete”?
  • Verify the current operating mode (Main area vs. Secondary area)
  • Confirm the lawn mower is charging properly in the station
  • Review recent changes to settings or Smart Routines

Normal operating cycles

The robotic lawn mower needs charging:

What’s happening: The lawn mower returns to the charging station when the battery is low and resumes operation once sufficiently charged.

Is this a problem? No, this is normal behaviour.

Action needed: None. If the operating time between charges is shorter than usual, the battery may soon need replacement.

Today’s mowing complete (standby mode):

What’s happening: The lawn mower has a maximum daily operating limit for mowing, which includes time spent cutting, searching for the charging station and recharging.

Factors that affect daily operation:

  • The layout of the area
  • The growth of the grass
  • The condition of the battery

Effect: Once the lawn mower reaches its maximum allowed operating time, the app will show the message Today’s mowing complete. The lawn mower will then enter standby mode and will not mow again until the next scheduled session.

Action needed: This is normal and no action is required.

User-initiated overrides

No operation mode selected:

What’s happening: The lawn mower will be parked until you select a new operating mode.

How to fix:

  • In the app, press the start symbol and select Resume schedule or Select work area.
  • Use the jog wheel to select the operating mode and to confirm.
  • For lawn mowers with a keypad: Press the START button and select the operating mode.

Where to change:

  • Automower® Connect
  • Lawn mower jog wheel or keypad

How to fix:

  • For lawn mowers with a keypad: Press the START button and select Main area.
  • For lawn mowers with a jog wheel: Select operating mode Main area.
  • In the app, select the desired work area or Resume schedule.

Where to change:

  • Automower® Connect
  • Lawn mower jog wheel or keypad

How to fix: Disable the Weather Timer or change its sensitivity.

Where to change:

  • Automower® Connect > More > Settings > Operation > Weather Timer
  • Lawn mower keypad > Settings > Installation > Weather Timer

How to fix: Adjust the stay-out zone to ensure that the charging station is not within it.

Where to change: Automower® Connect > Map > select stay-out-zone > Edit
