A life cycle assessment is a systematic analysis used to evaluate the potential environmental impacts throughout the entire life cycle of a product or service. One of the outputs from an LCA is a product’s carbon footprint, with the greenhouse gas emissions attributed directly and indirectly in life cycle activities.
At Husqvarna, we collaborate with trusted partners to conduct life cycle assessments on selected products. The methods applied align with international standards, and generic data originates from recognized inventory databases and public literature.
A life cycle assessment provides a comparison between equivalent electrical and combustion-driven Husqvarna products. These products serve the same purpose and are designed to be used under identical conditions.

The in-depth life cycle assessment helps us to compare the impact of a battery-powered Husqvarna product with an equivalent fossil fuel-powered Husqvarna product used under similar conditions.
Husqvarna CEORA ™ 546 EPOS ™ robotic mower
In this LCA we compare our battery powered Husqvarna CEORA™ 546 EPOS ™ robotic mower and our Husqvarna diesel ride-on front mower P525DX. Over the complete product lifecycle, the Husqvarna CEORA ™ 546 EPOS ™ robotic mower has a significantly lower carbon footprint.*
*The mode of cutting is different between the two products. The comparison is made based on a scenario of a 30-week cutting season per year. The Lifecycle Assessment (LCA) is based on the functional unit of cutting two football pitches (16,000 sqm) of average pitch grass lawn. Husqvarna CEORA is powered by EU Mix electricity and Husqvarna P525DX is powered by standard diesel. Result in Global Warming Potential per season (kg CO2e/season). If P 525DX runs on biodiesel (HVO100) CO2 emissions can be further reduced.
