Display is black or blank
Steps to try first
Steps to try first
If the display shows nothing at all, try the following:
- Check the battery. A fully discharged battery can cause the display to appear dead. Place Automower® on the charging station and wait at least 30 minutes before trying to turn it on.
- Restart Automower®. See How to restart or reset your Automower® robotic lawn mower for model-specific instructions.
- After winter storage: If Automower® was left outdoors or in an unheated space during winter, bring it indoors and charge it fully before attempting to start. A deeply discharged battery may take several hours to recover.
When to contact a dealer:
- The display remains blank after charging and restarting.
- Automower® makes sounds but the display stays blank.
- You suspect water damage or a faulty ON/OFF switch (for older models with a switch).
- The display goes blank as soon as the hatch is opened.

If the display is on but not responding to input:
- Restart Automower®. This clears most temporary freezes. See How to restart or reset your Automower® robotic lawn mower for model-specific instructions.
- Check for an active error. Some errors lock the display until they are cleared. Check the Automower® Connect app for any active error messages and follow the instructions there.
- Check the battery. A low battery can cause display instability. Place Automower® on the charging station and wait until the battery is fully charged before trying again.
When to contact a dealer:
- The display remains frozen after restarting and charging.
- The display is intermittently turning on and off with alarm beeps.
- Automower® shows an unfamiliar symbol and cannot be operated.

Display is stuck on “Firmware update”
What to do during a firmware update
What to do during a firmware update
If the display shows “Firmware update” and appears frozen:
- Wait for the update to complete. Firmware updates can take up to 30 minutes. Automower® temporarily disconnects from the app during installation and will reconnect automatically when the update is done.
- Do not restart Automower® during the update. Interrupting a firmware update can cause further issues.
- If Automower® is still stuck on the firmware update screen after 30 minutes, restart the mower. See How to restart or reset your Automower® robotic lawn mower for model-specific instructions.
If the steps above didn’t help, contact a Husqvarna dealer for assistance.
