Why is the error LED flashing on my lawn mower? Common causes and fixes
If the error LED on your Husqvarna lawn mower is flashing, it usually indicates a fault that needs your attention.
Use the guide below to find the issue that best matches your situation and follow the recommended steps:
NOTE: The number of LED flashes may vary depending on your lawn mower’s model. Check the operator’s manual for model-specific flash codes.
The blade is blocked
WARNING: Always wear protective gloves when handling the blade — it is sharp and can cause injuries.
- Turn the safety key to 0 to prevent accidental starts.
- Remove the battery and wait at least 5 seconds.
- Carefully inspect the blade area.
- Remove any debris or blockage.
If the issue continues after cleaning the blade, contact your local authorised dealer.
The motor slows or stops
If the motor cuts out during use, it might be working too hard due to:
- Low cutting height
- Thick or wet grass conditions
How to fix it:
- Stop the lawn mower and remove the battery.
- Raise the cutting height using the adjustment lever.
- Restart the lawn mower.
CAUTION: Do not set the cutting height too low — blades may strike the ground on uneven lawns, damaging the deck and lawn mower.
The battery or motor is too hot
Excessive heat can trigger a safety shutdown.
How to fix it:
- Turn off the lawn mower.
- Remove the battery.
- Allow both the lawn mower and the battery to cool down completely before restarting.
NOTE: The number of LED flashes may vary depending on your lawn mower’s model. Check the operator’s manual for model-specific flash codes.
The motor has overloaded
Increase the cutting height:
- Stop the engine.
- Move the cutting height lever backwards to increase the cutting height.
- Move the cutting height lever forwards to decrease the cutting height.
CAUTION: Do not set the cutting height too low. The blades can hit the ground if the surface of the lawn is not level.
Battery error or no signal
The battery may not be connected properly, or there is a communication issue with the rest of the system.
How to fix it:
- Remove and reinsert the battery securely.
- Inspect the battery connector for dirt and misalignment.
- If the battery LED is also flashing, refer to the battery status chart in your operator’s manual for more details.
Incorrect start procedure
Sometimes the lawn mower won’t start if the motor brake handle is engaged too soon.
How to fix it:
- Release the motor brake handle.
- Wait 5 seconds.
- Press it down again and try to start the lawn mower.
