Does Automower® cellular connectivity work everywhere?
If you’re considering adding cellular connectivity to your Automower® robotic lawn mower (check compatible models in this article), or if you’re in the process of deciding which Automower® model is best for your lawn, you may wonder if cellular connectivity will work in your situation.
Automower® cellular connectivity works in most locations, but there are some areas where it may not be available. Your phone’s cellular connectivity status may not reliably show whether your Automower® robotic lawn mower will connect, since they use different cellular networks.
Why your phone signal doesn’t show Automower® connectivity
Automower® uses a specialised cellular network for connected devices, which is different from the standard mobile network your phone uses (LTE or 5G).
Because they’re different networks:
- Good phone signal doesn’t guarantee your Automower® robotic lawn mower will connect to the cellular network available locally
- Your phone can’t show the cellular network status that Automower® uses
- Cellular network availability may vary depending on your Automower® model and local network operators
Where might connectivity be limited?
Cellular coverage for connected devices is typically excellent in cities and populated areas. You’re more likely to experience connectivity limitations in:
- Remote rural areas
- Locations far from cell towers
- Areas with sparse population
- Regions where network operators are transitioning their cellular networks
Even in these areas, many locations still have good coverage. The best way to know for certain is to test on site.
How to check if connectivity will work in your area
Test on site
- The most reliable way to confirm connectivity is to test with an Automower® robotic lawn mower at your installation location. Contact a Husqvarna dealer for assistance.
- If your mobile phone has no signal at all in a location, it is very likely that cellular connectivity will not work for Automower® either.
