M-ZT 61 First Impressions
I just took delivery of my new M-ZT 61 this evening. My first impression is that it's a very solid machine. I've been letting my grass grow anticipating the delivery and I was not disappointed at its performance. I took it for a spin out though 6 - 8 inch grass and it knocked it down to 3 inches very nicely mowing at a good clip. The Briggs 30 horse loaded up nicely and charged right through. The blade speed and forward speed remained constant as the machined muscled through. The cut is excellent and clippings were spread out nicely. The 24 inch tires grip nicely in turns and I haven't noticed any skid marks but I was trying to be careful with the sticks.
Over all a very nice first impression. This is a major upgrade from my JD 48 inch tractor. It was nice but this thing is a major man toy!
Many thanks to Mike at Lawson's Power Equipment for getting me this popular hard to find unit. His setup is spot on.
I'll try to make additions to this post as I get more hours on the machine.

Great mowing machine
Purchased the M-ZT 61 to replace my standard 24HP rider. Was unsure of how a zero-turn would perform on my property, as level ground is rare. This machine surprised me with good stability and traction. The 30HP Briggs engine has no problem moving the mower up inclines and still maintaining blade speed in moderately thick grass. The almost 800lb. weight and wide drive tires provide good traction. This mower is on the upper end of the homeowner series and is built as heavy as many commercial mowers I looked at. The ride is comfortable, even on my rough ground, and the 61" cutting width means I don't have to make nearly as many laps as I used to. All in all, this machine has been a really good investment.
