Husqvarna M-ZT 61
I am extremely impressed with my new Husqvarna M-ZT 61, the power, ease of operation, and quality is great, along with the price.
I had a John Deere 42" mower and it would take me 8 hours to mow, and with my M-ZT 61 i have cut it to about 4 hours(maybe less after I get more familiar with my machine).
Many thanks to the team at North Georgia Equipment Sales in Summerville, GA.

I could not be more pleased with this mower. Today was my first cut with it, although I spent a little time previously learning how it handles. My normal "blade time" on my old mower, a 1999 White, was 5.5 hours - it was brutal. Today, I logged exactly 2.5 hours of "blade time". Amazing! The mower cut evenly, even at a fast pace and the 30hp engine never bogged down. Although I've only owned the M-ZT 61 for a few days, it appears to be rock solid and handled very well.
My only recommendation is to look for ways to offset the weight of the engine in the rear. There are several spots along our lake where I have no choice but to cut on a side hill slant. Several times I felt the rear end slip.
I highly recommend this mower to people with a lot of grass and varied terrain. It handles excellently cutting around trees and bushes and flies on flat terrain.

First zero turn for 5 acre home estate
This is my first zero turn mower and I spent a lot of time comparing reviews and features. Based on those reviews and prior Husqvarna products I own I felt this would be a great replacement for my John Deere Riding diesel mower. I mow in excess of 4 acres.
When I first got the unit my grass was over 9 inches tall and the unit did a great job trimming it back to 3.5 inches. However we have two major issues with the unit.
First, the 30 hp engine and related exhaust pipes get so hot that when you stop the unit to move items out of the way for mowing, it will burn the grass area if the unit is either still running or shut off. The engine exhaust pipes appear to be too close to the ground and burn the grass after just a few seconds. I end up with yellow grass spots where ever I had to stop to move lawn items out of the way of the mower.
The second issue is the constant squeal I get when moving either of the speed controls arms. Any slight pressure on the arms cause a squeal as if the transmission is not getting fluid. When I first got the unit I was concerned something was not lubricated, but it appears to be coming directly from the trans axial area. The squeal occurs in either forward or reverse and appears to be the loudest when the unit is slightly off going straight.
Another problem I have is scraping up the grass when making a turn, but I expect that is my getting use to the zero turn operation.
Overall the cut is great. I like the speed and fine clippings I get from the unit. I normally bagged by clippers using a John Deere tow behind cart and blower unit, but have found I can mow more frequent with this unit and don't need to bag. I did have to rake all of the clippings from the first mowing. I wish the unit would come with a cart bagger. I am considering the purchase of the mulch kit, since I am concerned how the unit will handle the fall leaves we get in Minnesota. Overall I would rate this unit as fair and a disappoint for both Husqvarna and my first zero turn unit.

Well Made Mower
I have just over 20hours running time on this mower now and I must say it's made well and has a lot of power. The frame is very heavy on this mower and I mean heavy it will last.

I was unhappy with the cut quality of my JD Z445, but thought a commercial quality mower was more money than I wanted to spend. The M-ZT 61 was a pleasant surprise, the features and build quality are unmatched at the price point. It is a significant upgrade to my deere.
Left durability at 4 stars since I haven't had it long enough to make a judgement.

M-ZT 61 First Impressions
I just took delivery of my new M-ZT 61 this evening. My first impression is that it's a very solid machine. I've been letting my grass grow anticipating the delivery and I was not disappointed at its performance. I took it for a spin out though 6 - 8 inch grass and it knocked it down to 3 inches very nicely mowing at a good clip. The Briggs 30 horse loaded up nicely and charged right through. The blade speed and forward speed remained constant as the machined muscled through. The cut is excellent and clippings were spread out nicely. The 24 inch tires grip nicely in turns and I haven't noticed any skid marks but I was trying to be careful with the sticks.
Over all a very nice first impression. This is a major upgrade from my JD 48 inch tractor. It was nice but this thing is a major man toy!
Many thanks to Mike at Lawson's Power Equipment for getting me this popular hard to find unit. His setup is spot on.
I'll try to make additions to this post as I get more hours on the machine.
