PLESE DONT BUY - I REGRET MY PURCHASE
Had a cheap Ryobi purchased from a big box store for $110. It bit the dust after 10 yrs of use. Thought I would buy better quality for the $200 HUSQVARNA 128LD. Such was not the case.
I'm a handy guy and take ULTRA good care of my equipment. So far I have over $110.00 in replacement parts for a unit bought in 2009 - a new carb @ $28, 2 upper shafts at $33 (only got 1 yrs use out of each) $6 for a broken pull cord spring. And now a broken pull cord string. Of which that assembly will cost me another $16. Its been broken more than its been operable.
My cheap $110 Ryobi never gave me an ounce of trouble - it worked till it died (broken piston shaft) when the Ryobi I knew I was buying junk and had low expectations, turns out the junk Ryobi was better quality than the double the price HUSKQVARNA 128LD.
Go to a small retailer and buy anything other than a HUSKVARNA in a contractor grade. I have an Echo Blower it it runs like a charm.

this is one great trimmer for the money light easy to handle with power to handle everything i have put it to would recommend this trimmer for average to above average home use. the only fault i can find is the amount of string the head holds would like to see a larger string capacity

tackles saplings and small brush without effort
I purchased his to edge around my yard particularly a two foot area that does not get trimmed regularly. Living in Florida, it doesn't take long for weeds to take over, so I needed something to cut small one to three foot grass and saplings. No problem experienced so far. Easy to handle and not to bad on starting.

I had attachments from my old trimmer, and had no problem using them with the 128ld. Easy starting, when you follow the starting instructions, that is labeled on the unit. Lots of power

Awesome power for the price
I have owned this trimmer for almost 2 years. It has never once let me down. The 128LD has plenty of power, easy to start, simple to use. Sometimes I get lazy and let the fence line get over grown, but this trimmer powers thru the heavy weeds without bogging down. I really like the clutch setup on the trimmer head. It doesn't spin when at idle, which is nice when I have to set it down to open the gates. I highly recommend this trimmer for any home owner looking for a quality, reliable, decent priced trimmer. This was the first Husqvarna product i purchased and i now own a Husqvarna riding tractor and chainsaw, all because I was very satisfied with the quality of this trimmer.

128CD weed trimmer is THE WORST. Poorly designed and not worth the $$$
Trimmer strings vanish after 45 seconds of use. "Tap-N-GO" feature does absolutely nothing. Disassembling trim head to withdraw new string takes ten minutes of unwinding, threading line from the spool, then re-attaching trim head.
If I want to use the machine for an hour's worth of work, I spend a cumulative 50 minutes just re-threading the trim line. That's over two hours of wasted time, due to a substandard design.
I thought I could circumvent the problem of the trim line needing to be drawn out every 45 seconds buy purchasing a Shakespeare 3-Blade Head to replace the string assembly. Guess what? This is the ONLY trimmer on the market not comparable with the 3-Blade Head. So now, I'm stuck with a $220 machine that is worthless.
I plan on discarding this thing at my earliest opportunity.
