This mower is a good choice
This mower is a good choice if you want a mower that will handle hilly and rough terrain. The cut is even and smooth leaving a great looking lawn. It has plenty of power with the 24 horsepower Kawasaki engine. The Kawasaki engine is one of the reasons I choose this particular mower. It handles and maneuvers very good in tight places on my 5 acre rough wooded lawn. I only have 14 hours on this mower so it is not fully broke in yet and to soon to tell how well it will hold up but so far I think it will be fine, because I have really put it through some tough testing to make sure it will perform up to my expectations. So far I am very pleased with my decision to purchase this mower.

The mower seems to do a good job so far. the numbers for the deck height wipe off if you spill a little gas on them. The deck belt fell off twice since I bought the mower about three months ago, for the price I expected a little more. overall it does a good job and has plenty of power.

I had 2 hours on it and it starter to run bad after it warmed up. The warrenty places were listed on the Husq web site were out of date. It was difficult to find a repair shop who would do warrenty work.
I finally took it in at hour 7 of use and was told they could not reproduce the problem. Second shop told me the same thing. I have yet to pick it up from the second place.
How much you want to bet it's going to do the same thing agian as soon as I start cutting?

Great piece of equipmet !!!!
I previously owned a Scotts (John Deere made) tractor, it was 20 hp x 46 inch cut. It was on its 13th cutting season when I broke a connecting rod. I cut 3 acres so this old one owed me nothing. I wanted to save some time cutting the lawn so I went looking for the widest I could get with some speed too. (My neighbors tractors all were faster than mine.) I didn't need a zero turn since its practically all straight cutting. My local dealer met the Lowe's price even with the 5% Lowe's card discount plus he offered free delivery (approx $60 savings).
This tractor is awesome. I have used it six or so times and love it more each time. Its much faster cutting then my old one and has a really fast high end. The seat is comfortable and all the controls are within easy reach. Even has a power plug to charge the iPod while cutting. Drink holder is plenty deep so you don't spill your beer on the corners (Important feature !!!) Motor is a Kawasaki and its pretty quiet for such a big motor. The blades engage electrically instead of with a cumbersome lever. A great feature is you can set the key to the first notch and it allows you to cut in reverse. I also own a Cyclone Rake vac unit and the new deck adapter hooked up effortlessly. Headlights are switch operated and are pretty bright. I guess these are more for coming home from the neighbors at night rather than cutting in the dark !!! Deck cutting height is easily set and has a full range of heights. It has a pretty tight turning radius compared to my old Scotts. You will not be disappointed if you get one of these. I highly recommend the mulching kit. Has blades a cover and a baffle. No clippings at all. Great tractor !!!

Didn't do it's job
Wouldn't do it's job, didn't even have 1 hour on it and it wouldn't cut grass, it would start chugging and wanna die out, shut the blades off and it was fine, go back to cutting and 50 feet later, chugging was back, it got so bad it barely made it back to the garage, not recommended!!! Also, didn't like the speed control being only controlled by engine speed.

I have always purchased garden tractors because of there being heavy duty. The parts that you don't see are the most important. The G730 Hydro Gear transaxle is very well built and found in some of its compeditors much more expensive models . Also the very quiet well built Kawasaki 24 HP is a class leader. The deck on the GTH24K54 is a great heavy duty, power coated, reinforced next step up from the yard tractors series .Looked at a lot of tractors before deciding on this model. Best bang for the buck ! The only things I would like to see on this model is the is an anti slip diff and better grip rear tires , this might not be an issue with some land owners but I have some inclines and when its wet the tires spin especially pulling a roller. I did up grade to wheel weights which helps a lot . My only con ,the cup holder needs to be a little deeper ! GREAT MACHINE !

Fast Hydro !
Replaced a LT 2000 42 inch 17.5 Craftsman Briggs with this mower and my mowing time has been cut at least 60%. I have 3 acres of very thick grass and the vibration free quite power from the Kawasaki is a huge step up. Plus this mower will run almost 8 mph and even @ full throttle in thick grass it does very well. It is worth the extra money get this 54 inch model because of the fast heavy duty trans Kawasaki engine and the reinforced deck. The headlights are also very bright for mowing @ night. I looked @ alot of mowers and could not find one with the high ground speed and a 54 inch deck @ this price.
