Excellent mow for the price. The mower has good power, really shoots the clippings a long way.I really like the feature that the blades do not disengage going into reverse (less wear on the belt).Very easy to lubricate everything (very important). The easier something is to maintain the more liklyhood it will be maintained. You can purchase lights for this mower pretty cheap. This zero turn has cut my mowing time in half.I've only had it a couple months,so far so good.Traction is ok,no worse or better than your average zero turn. The seat and controls are comfortable.I just hope it lasts me a few years. New mower purchase Mower has been great and has reduced my mowing time by a third versus my last 42" rider. Everything with the Husqvarna has been what I expected. Only downside has been the missing R in the Husqvarna logo above the mower desk. Dealer has yet to fix after repeated calls. May 28, 2014
Poor quality I have 3 acres to mow and farmland all around. I am hard on my equipment but I've already replaced every tire and replaced two spindle assemblies. The tires were poor from the first day, would not hold air. Traction with the cheap tires are poor. Steering tracking is poor, a Sears rep the tried to adjust it but it is no better. Not a good value. I have a 18 year old Yazoo that can mow circles around this but with a hydro-stat going out, I didn't think it was worth replacing, wish I did now, Power is about the only thing that I would say is very good. First mow and the housing around the blades broke The vacuum housing around the blades broke, then my blade cut into it and got stuck, therefore wrecking my blade and burning up my belts. They repaired it for free and repainted it. The guys at the shop commented on the shoddy weld and added some extra welding to it. Since then the tires are poo and cannot handle much incline at all. Worst tires ever. The blades wear out VERY quickly and it cuts unevenly despite multiple repairs and adjustments. The steering, well we have given up on trying to get those bars aligned. The material holding those steering bars are abysmal and not durable at all. If you have any thick grass at all then count on this thing bogging down especially if the grass is even the slightest wet. I really should have went with a Commercial Troy Built or John Deer. If you have a 1/2 or less of FLAT, and very thin/sparse grass then I would recommend this (only if you really can't use a push mower, because who needs to spend $3500 on a lot like that) anything tougher and I would get ANYTHING else... Very poor craftsmanship Have had this mower 3 years and this thing has never tracked in a straight line. Dealer kept saying it has some break in period- really after 3 years. No matter how much I adjust the tracking knob it will not go straight always have left handle foward and right slightly back. Have used it twice this year with 122 hours on it and now the thing mows in circles because the left rear tire will not hardly turn and will not keep up with the right rear wheel. some have said they love this mower, well give it a couple years and it will disappoint you, this thing is junk and would never buy another. the left rear transmission is shot, read the way they brag on it at top of site, I promise you it is junk, do not waste your money. Generally reliable, but accumulates grass and is hard to clean I mow my yard of about 5 acres about once a week. The mower clogs very easily and unless I want large issues next time I use it, I scrape the grass from the underside of the deck every time. Forget about any hose connection - it is ineffective and leaves a large mess. I jack up the mower, lay a tarp on the ground to catch the considerable quantity of clumped grass, and lay underneath to scrape with a putty knife. I estimate I usually get 15 pounds of compressed grass from underneath. Time consuming and a pain. Also, beware the parking brake as it has an interlock switch. Mine came loose enough that it missed the switch underneath and prevented the mower from starting until I finally figured it out. The engine, suspension, and transmission seem to work well enough. I am on the fence about recommending. I would likely try another brand next time. April 4, 2014
RZ5424 Purchased my RZ5424 Spring of 2012, cut great, reduced my mowing time from 5-6 hours to less than 3. Was happy with my purchased. This June, '13. I noticed the cut wasn't as clean as it should be, figured the blades needed sharpening. Removed the blades and they were totally used up. The ends of the blades may have been 2 inches wide. OK, not a big deal, went to Lowe's bought a new set of HU22054 set for $49. Little expensive but OEM parts usually are. This weekend, Sept 21, '13 jump on the ZT and on the second pass notice the deck was shaking and cut wasn't clean. Stopped, looked at the blades and they are worn out again. All 3 blades have one of the wings on the end broken off and the other side is split and barely holding on. I have attached a picture, you can still see the paint on the blades! This set lasted 90 days, maybe 35 hours. Took the blades to Lowe's and got a "sorry, we only have a 30-day warranty period for replacement parts" My ZT has 79 hours on it and I'm on my 3rd set of blades. The 3rd set I just got some off-shore brand from Amazon. And for the record, my lawn is well established Fescue, I'm not bush hogging with it. To make matters worse, the seat has 2 severe cracks in it already. My 12 yr JD mower seat does not have any cracks at all. Both mowers are parked in my garage and only go out to cut grass! 4 hrs and engine smoking-wheels will not turn I recently purchased the RZ5424 (Kohler engine) in July through AAFES and at great price. I have mowed 1.5 acres of only grass in my yard about 6 times and have been very impressed. However, today the engine made a noise and began billowing smoke which smelled awful, the blades were turning but I lost all wheelpower. After letting the VERY hot motor cool off I started it again and it immediately began blowing smoke with no wheel power. I have checked and re-checked everything, including the oil. Very dismayed and at a loss for words. It is essentially brand new, and now not functional. August 31, 2013
