I bought this mower last year, forgot and ran over a small stump with such force I cracked the block. I was so mad because this should have been the last mower I should have to buy( yes, getting a little older now). I was so happy with the performance with this one over all the other mowers I purchased over the years, I promptly went out and got another one without a second thought. You won't be disappointed.

Have had this mower for about 6 months and am bringing it back for repairs for the second time. Pull cord broke first time, second time 4 wheel drive stopped working while mowing, shut down mower to inspect, tried to restart and pull cord broke, AGAIN. this is begining to be one of the worst mowers I have ever owned. When it works, the mowers is great. The key word there is WHEN.

About Me Do-It-Yourself
Comments about LC221A:
Most of the reviews I see on here are user error. I have bad arthritis and the VARIABLE speed of the AWD make using it a dream. I've never had to pull the start rope more than 3 times BUT there are a couple things I wish they would change. After 30 minutes of use if I turn it off to refuel I have to wait about 5 minutes for it to cool down a little before it will restart. But thats a small price to pay for the ease of starting every other time. One other thing thats a bit of an issue is the drive belts under the deck do not have a cover and if something like a pebble or wood chip gets caught in the drive pulley the mower won't move or start. I had to take mine to the dealer for repair to learn this. The dealer just showed me the problem at no charge so the only other time its happened was an easy fix. The deck washing hose connection is of little use but nice to have. Overall I recommend this mower. AWD mowers are hard to find and usually very expensive. For the price this unit has been a life/money saver for a crippled old man like me. Pulling it backwards requires it be pushed forward about 3 or 4 inches to disengage the AWD

After I assemble the mower and found it very easy to start one pull and it started. The only thing I can say is that you will need to be in shape as there is only one speed on the all wheel drive and that is very fast. I was almost running to keep up the pace. For a person that is almost 70 years this is something to deal with.
Belt Cover Design
from Pinellas Park, FL
The belt cover design is poor. Too much grass gets into the pulleys and belt. I've had the mower about 6 months and have to remove both the front and rear drive mechanism covers twice now to clean out the accumulated grass clogging the drive pulleys. The belt cover should cover more of the pulleys and belt area. I do not let my lawn get high and do not cut it very short, but this mower has issues.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
No start after using 5 times!!!
By Roni S
from Diamond Bar California
I have only used this 5 times over approximately 900 sq feet and now I cannot start it. So annoyed because of the cost and inconvenience already. Oil cap in placed in awful area and the mower is hard to pull backwards. Will never purchase another one.
I really thought I was the only one that was having so many issues with this lawnmower. My neighbors get mad at me every time i mow because I start cursing after the fourth attempt of starting the lawn mower hasn't worked. Is there a recall?
I can't believe nobody's mentioned the terrible bagger.
from Isle of Palms SC
Mows just fine but the bagger is the worst ever. It's a double layer of mesh and the internal one has bigger holes so the external layer has smaller mesh which would catch sand and dirt. Well, I dont know if they meant to do this or not, but the second layer hangs open in the back which allows every particle of sand and dirt to flow through that first layer. I live at the beach and we have a lot of sand. This is problematic. I constantly have a brown cloud surrounding me and I can't see or breathe. Is this deliberate or can I get another bagger that is sealed up??? I've mowed this same yard for 17 years and this is my first Husqvarna. I can assure you this will be my last if this is what I have to deal with every time I mow the yard.
A good solid mower, starts easy like the AWD
By Cheesy Bread

I am coming from a JD commercial grade walk behind, which admittedly spoiled me. It had a feature that allowed the engine to run but stopped the blade so you didn't have to restart it every time you needed to empty the bag, which I dearly miss and forgot to shop for when looking for a replacement. However, I was teaching my 12yo boy to mow the lawn and bought this one for us. It has been a month and both he and I have used it. It starts like a dream, no primer bulb, just pull the cord and it starts right up. The AWD is very powerful as I have a couple of small spots with and incline and loose soil that the RWD would spin out on, where this one goes right over without any loss of traction. I have two small complaints but I would still recommend the machine. 1) No side chute, I have been searching for an aftermarket compatible one, with little luck. Apparently many manufacturers are going away from the chute. 2) While the speed is technically "variable" it is dependant on how close you pull the drive lever towards the handle. It is not terribly comfortable to hold the lever an inch away from the handle while mowing, nor are you able to hold a consistent speed. I much prefer a preset adjustable drive speed lever to keep speed consistent. The boy loves this mower (more then the JD) so as long as he is cutting the lawn I am happy.

About Me Professional
Got the first one 4/16/17. Tithe engine locked up the second cutting. Replaced it with another one on 5/14/17. Used it twice and on 6/24/17 the motor froze up again. This mower is garbage. Now they're talking about it had to babe sent out and its going to take 14 days before we get it back. In the mean time the back yard is cut but not the front. What good is a warranty if you gotta wait 14 days for a fix or replacement. And if they can't handle it in this little bit of time what's the point in buying an extended warranty? Never again.
