Finally got to try out our new 450..... Very Impressed!
While we bought this 450 5-6 months ago I got to use it on our mountain property 25 miles south of Lake Tahoe NV. We dropped 4 trees and cut up another that was rotten at the base and was a blow down. Largest tree was 21" on the future fence line.
This ripped through anything I got in front of it! Easy to start and love the anti vibration features these saws have! Flying chips looked about like 1/2 size of a finger nail! Even with no jet change it started right up when hot! We are at 6000' so I was impressed by this as well.
Great power, features and color...HA!

Saw is a workhorse, manual is an insult to intelligence
After returning the saw to the dealer who showed me how to NOT follow the printed starting instructions and thus avoid flooding during a cold start, it now performs like a dream. What a workhorse. Starts every time now that I know enough to take the choke off after one pull. I used a McCullough for years and the 450 performance blows it away. No sagging, bucking or drifting -- hardwood, softwood, makes no difference. Just clean, reliable knife-through-butter action. This machine is a thing of beauty when it's performing.
HOWEVER, as others have noted, the instruction manual is truly awful. If there was a contest for the worst ever, I'd enter this one and I think it might win. Page after page of incomprehensible tiny pictures may go over big at budget meetings, but out here in the real world they're just silly, even insulting. You'll feel better after dropping the manual in the garbage.

Bought this chainsaw as an upgrade from the cheaper ones I've always had over the past 20 years and it was awesome initially. Great power and smooth, however, I used it only 6 hours last year and the first time I used it this year, I started it and let it sit and warm up for about 3 minutes like I usually do and turned around to see it smoking and on fire! Could not believe it! Freaked my son out. Put the fire out and brought it in to dealer as I got the extended 4 year warranty but then was told i was out of luck and they would not warranty it. They say because the chainsaw was warming up with the chain break on it was not warrantied. They say it burned out the clutch and started a fire and that is not covered! Are you kidding me! I get it that if I left it on high idle for a long time but it was on low idle just sitting there for about 3 minutes on a class 5 driveway and it burned up. What a joke. Called Husqvarna directly and they were no help at all just read from a corporate script and basically said too bad. Unbelievable to me that a supposed high quality chainsaw could be that fragile. I had thought Husqvarna made a good product and I just bought a $4000 Husqvarna riding lawnmower last week just a day before this happened but will be returning it today. So disappointed and will not recommend Husqvarna to anyone.

This saw is a beast!
I purchased this saw and had 5 brush piles on my property about 30 yards across each and 15-20 feet high. Also had many trees that had died and needed to come down. I went to work straight away with it and cut some trunks as big as 40 inches across. The saw handled it quite well. Cords and cords of firewood have been made thanks to this saw. The only thing I can find lacking is. During the chain run in, I tightened the chain 3 times and the bar has no more adjustment and the chain provided with the saw sags now more then it should. Aside from that, everything is very good. I will likely have someone remove a link while sharpening the chain and continue using it with another new chain in the mean time.

Great saw, Big problem
I have been purchasing and using Husky saws for over 35 years. This is the first saw that has a real safety and mechanical problem. The 450 saw uses only a single nut to hold on the bar and chain. This single nut is not enough to hold on the bar and chain. The bar and chain will come off quickly when cutting. The running chain destroyed the chain, bar and part of the saw. I check my equipment before and after use. Fortunately the chain missed me. I think Husqvarna needs to rethink this design. All of my other Husky saws have two nuts on the bar and have never come loose when tightened.

excellent all around performer
I"ve had this saw for five years and hasn't been to the shop yet. I cut about eight to ten cord a year give or take some and this saw has never let me down. I suggest the 18" bar and no bigger. If you need to go larger you better off going to the 455 Rancher, but that is more than I would need .
