Great saw, Big problem
I have been purchasing and using Husky saws for over 35 years. This is the first saw that has a real safety and mechanical problem. The 450 saw uses only a single nut to hold on the bar and chain. This single nut is not enough to hold on the bar and chain. The bar and chain will come off quickly when cutting. The running chain destroyed the chain, bar and part of the saw. I check my equipment before and after use. Fortunately the chain missed me. I think Husqvarna needs to rethink this design. All of my other Husky saws have two nuts on the bar and have never come loose when tightened.

excellent all around performer
I"ve had this saw for five years and hasn't been to the shop yet. I cut about eight to ten cord a year give or take some and this saw has never let me down. I suggest the 18" bar and no bigger. If you need to go larger you better off going to the 455 Rancher, but that is more than I would need .

Replaced a STILH chainsaw with this one. The STILH was a bear to start, IF IT STARTED AT ALL! This saw is just the opposite. Starts easily every time! Only problem I have had, and it may be me, is keeping the chain tight and with the bar adjustment. Even so, one of the BEST saws I've ever owned , and at 60+ I've only bought three! I cut @ three cords of wood every summer/fall, and this saw has not let me down in five years!

A major step up from my homeowner's chainsaw
Fighting to keep my Craftsman chainsaw running I decided to take a major step up. The Husqvarna 450 was available at an excellent price so I jumped. Now, after over three years of use, often heavy at times, I am really glad I did. Right out the gate it has always been very easy to start if you follow the simple procedure it advised. And once warmed up it will almost always restart the first pull. So I have no qualms about turning it off when repositioning for the next cut(s). But the big thing for me is how relatively light this saw is for its size and power.
As to the power, I have never found it lacking as long as I have a relatively sharp chain. And it is important to keep the bar tip lubricated, especially when doing a long session of heavy cutting. I forgot to lubricate it one time and the tip overheated and froze on me. This saw can run fast and hard for a long periods of time and that puts a lot stress on the bar tip if it is not adequately greased. Keep a bar tip grease gun with your saw as a reminder, especially if you are going to be a heavy user of this tool.

hard to re start
Replaced my 350 model after 10 years with a 450. 350 wore out. New 450 is harder to start, difficult to restart after warm, idle is poor and I can find no chain oiler adjustment or carburator adjustment.

450 Hard to start
Harder to start than as advertised. Has more parts and pieces
than the Stihl it replaced. Takes more time to clean the bar and tighten the chain than the Stihl. Why did I buy a Husqvarna instead of a Stihl, because the Stihl was horrible to start. Hope as the 450 breaks in, it becomes easier to start.
