Dan-Kel operator using the FS 6600 D
All highways need repairs, especially older, heavily-traveled thoroughfares. This was the case with I-85 near Petersburg, VA. I-85 is a very old, reinforced concrete highway, and 25,000 square yards needed to be replaced over a 2.5 mile section at the beginning of the year. To do so, the general contractor on the project, Interstate Improvement (Faribault, MN), called upon Dan-Kel Concrete Cutting based out of Mrytle Beach, SC to cut the concrete and all the tie-back areas. To increase efficiency, Dan-Kel cut full depth panels to a size that would fit a dump truck for easy removal. Dan-Kel used five Husqvarna FS 6600 D flat saws and Husqvarna F920 blades to cut approximately 100,000 linear ft. of 8" thick CRCP. “The Husqvarna saws are tough, user friendly and mechanic friendly machines. The F920C blades cut very fast and provided very good life,” said D.J. Conlon, Vice President/Estimator for Dan-Kel. Conlon added that the combination of four experienced saw operators and Husqvarna equipment and diamond blades enabled the job to be done quickly and smoothly, without any major issues.
