I purchased a MZ5424s in the spring of 2014 and really liked how the mower operated and it seemed to be heavy duty. However the stamped deck just wasn't up to par for my 2.5 acre property that has a lot of weeds and undesirable grass in areas around the grain bins and outbuildings. Compared to a $7000 competitor zero turn that my old workplace had, I liked the controls and operation of the Husqvarna's better so I decided to trade for a MZ-T 61 and it is a mowing machine.(Summer of 2015) Cut my mowing time from 2.5 hours and constant plugging to an hour and 40 minutes with no plugging and it cuts very nice. Bottom line is that if you have a well manicured lawn and can mow it at timely intervals then a stamped deck will be fine, but if you need a machine that can mow anything at anytime, wet or dry, you need a commercially built mower. This one is excellent for the price.

Bought this machine two months ago, hit a rock broke a blade and the mandrel, I placed multiple orders on line and nobody seems to have the parts. I have a brand new machine that is inoperable because there is no parts available, its been sitting in my garage for over six weeks and I still can't find the parts. If you choose to buy a piece of equipment make sure service and parts are available .Definitely will not recommend this brand .

I would not buy this product again
from Mason, MI
I bought this mower in 2012 to mow 2.5 acres of flat lawn. 1 year later with 39 hours on the meter had to replace two push rods because they had bent and mower was only running on one cylinder - repaired under warranty. Next year o-ring on the dipstick failed so the dipstick came out and oil blew all over the engine while my daughter was operating it - fortunately it did not catch fire or engine seize up. No idea how many hours it has on it because the hour meter stopped working after the first 50 hours. Last two years, mower starts fine when it is cold but don't stop till done mowing because it won't restart when hot. Most recently oil was leaking and dripping from the main engine shaft. Took it in for repair - engine had worked itself loose enough to vibrate the oil filter loose causing oil to leak down under the engine - $135 to replace one $1.50 bolt. Make sure you buy from a full service dealer with a repair shop. Next one is not going to be a Husqvarna.

This is the second MZT 61 I have owned. This first one burned up in a barn fire. This mower is great even in wet grass. Lots of power and easy to operate. It is a bit loud but nothing unusual for this size motor.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Husqvarna does not provide good customer support
from Robertsdale, Alabama 36567
We have a ZT61 zero degree Husqvarna commercial grade mower. Bought it about a year ago. Recently developed a problem with steering on one side-apparently a hydraulic pump. Took it to dealer a month ago. They couldn't get to it for 3 weeks. Told us to bring home and use best we could and they would call about when to bring it in when they were ready. Dealer never called. Went to them and took it back in. Said problem was water and air in the hydraulic cylinder on one side. Asked if we ever let it get wet. We said rained on twice and also washed it with a hose. They said thats how water got into the cylinder. Husqvarna said it had nothing to do with manufacturing and wouldn't stand behind it. I don't understand how water gets into a closed system. Makes no sense. Don't count on Husqvarna or their dealers to stand behind their products. What a crock.

Overall GOOD mower

About Me Professional
I own a landscaping company and this is one of my primary mowers. First the negatives. It's considered a commercial mower and although it is good on fuel consumption, it desperately needs a larger fuel capacity. It also needs a better seat upgrade. The current one used is ok on even/smooth surfaces but it takes a big toll on your body after mowing large lawns & rough terrain. Now the positives. It is about half the weight of larger commercial mowers which makes for a great power to weight ratio. Also the simple design & durability of the components make this a reliable mower that provides solid productivity. The zt3400 drive system can be either positive or negative depending on the situation. It seems this particular drive system is designed for a heavier mower because it is very sensitive for this size/weight mower. Learning how the "feather" the steering is a must if you don't want to spin out.

Recommend this mower to everyone
from Murray, KY
I use my MZT 61" zero turn for residential use of mowing around 1 to 1 1/2 acres each week( usually mow 3 times a week). This is my 3rd Husqvarna mower I have owned( 1st zero turn ). I own several other Husqvarna items( 3 string trimmer/hedge trimmer/backpack blower/ 2 chain saws ) & I recommend all Husqvarna items to anyone looking for hard working dependable tools especially the MZT 61" mowers!!! This mower is built strong and dependable!!! Great warranty and easy to maintain with an exceptional comfort for the user!!! As with all my Husqvarna tools, this mower has out preformed my expectations on comfort and dependability. With easy to clean air filter and gas shut off valve being standard features it is no wonder I keep turning to Husqvarna products to meet my yard maintenance needs!! If you are looking for a great mower at a great price look no further than an MZT mower

Worth the money
From the view point of a lawn professional this mower does everything that it should. The control lay out is very nice and easy to use. The hydro's are very responsive and take little hand movement to control. The deck construction is heavy duty and ruge enough to last for years. ground speed at full throtle while cutting is fair. However, in comparison to other mowers in the same price point it is equal to or slightly slower then most. The cut quality is very nice and one pass gets the job done every time no matter what type of grass you take on. The motor on mine is the Kawasaki 23 hp and it is very quite and plenty of torque. This mower is very comfortable for larger people as well you can really sprall out and relax on this mower. Truly the only down side is that the seat is not up to par with many other venders in this price group. Also the mower only being able to carry 5 gallons of fuel is a down side as well to those that have large jobs to do. Other then those two negatives this mower has exceeded my expectations. The price on these mowers is very fair in comparison to other brands. I have been happy with this product in many ways, but to honest it does the job and puts more money in my pocket at the end of the day then a $10,000 machine would.
Love the color
Great mower cut my mow down from 6 hrs (on a craftsmen gt 50" ) to just 3 hrs. My daughter will mow now without complaining. The only issue was the kill switch under the seat. U had to sit just right or the motor would cut out. So I just zip tied the switch and no farther issues.
