I purchased this mower in 2013 and was not pleased or satisfied with it's cutting ability! I have the 42 inch fabricated cutting deck and it always left a streak of grass down the center that wasn't cut so I would cut a acre of land twice. The tractor is well powered with the kawasaki engine which I love and recommend. I just went and purchased a $400 48" stamped deck on my own because husquvarna wouldn't help me from the start even though I went thru 6 different blade types with the fabricated deck and it didn't help. I now have a great lawn mower with the 48 stamped deck and kawasaki engine which husquvarna doesn't even offer! I learned husquvarna stopped making the 3 blade 42" and started making it with 2 blades because there was dissatisfied customers with their fabricated decks. My advice is stay away from the fabricated decks and get the stamped reinforced deck with the kawasaki engine and you will be very satisfied.

About Me Professional
Comments about Husqvarna YT42DXLS:
I have had this mower exactly 3 months to the day and use it twice a week for about 1 to 2 hours each day. I had a 42 inch that cut the lawn too short and wanted something with more power and a better ride. I got both! This model is certainly more stable and powerful than a model with an 18 hp engine. However, that extra power is no guarantee that it is a substantially better product. The turning radius is adequate but not as tight as the smaller mower I had. The real issue here is that if you are turning too fast or up a slight grade, the front wheels will lock and slid until you slow down or turning back towards the center. I'm not sure why this happens but I can repeat this anytime. I have learned to not make a tight turn and take my foot off the pedal. It seems to handle better that way.The fabricated deck is fastened under the mower in four places (as opposed to three). It is more stable and I have been able to raise and lower it, following the directions. It is a bit hard to judge whether the deck had been put in the ideal position when it came from the dealer. I tried raising it to 4 inches and decided I got a better cut when the top spot was 3.5 inches. At the higher level, the grass doesn't bag very well and the grass seems to fall over on itself instead of cut. The lower level does get you a better cut. But you need to overlap the tire marks each pass to get it even. If you do this, the lawn will look much better the next day. I don't like the grass blowing up over the mower. I can't see where this is coming from and seems to get under the seat and around the bagger more than it should. Most of the deck is covered and I would have thought that this would have prevented the grass from getting out from under the mower. Certainly, there is a lot less grass that get trapped around the belts. The bagger that I bought with the mower is the two-bagger model (soft) and it is a bit harder to use than the hard plastic buckets I had with my other mower.

Review of the 42DXLS
I have a basement home with a severe slope. This is exactly the power and maneuverability I've been looking for. Love the LS system, everything I've been looking for.
Love my mower !!!

Purchased mine new in July of 2016. Have not had any problems in one full year of service. The only difference my tractor has, is that it came with a 22hp Kohler engine. Starts up very quickly every time. Fabricated deck and stock cutting blades work well. Strong non-slip mower. I would dare to compare against other models which are comparable in size but cost a lot more money. I would strongly recommend to a friend.

Mine is the 2015. Bought it for the fabricated deck. The 2015 version fortunately abandoned the ridiculous triple-bagger, but is still poorly designed. Finding the chutes nearly impossible to remove and reinstall, I was told that "this was designed to be left in place at all times." OK, so I will adjust my mowing habits to suit the machine. Not enough. The weak links are the strap-&-bolt assembly connecting the two tubes and, worst of all, the rubber gasket sealing the tube entrance to the bagging chamber. Presently using a bent nail (unable to find a suitable bolt/nut/washer) and re-installing the gasket every time a sharp turn pulls it loose. Mowing quality is poor as well, with the mentioned "strip down the middle" and dull cut elsewhere. Would trade for something better if this lemon had any trade value. For now it's just suffer and save up pennies.
Surprisingly user friendly

After retiring a 25 year old worn out tractor, ( I purchased it used from some guy named Mr. Haney), not really. An old reliable model I used to sell as a Sears salesman. I purchased from a local Husky dealer. He gave a great deal, with the powered tri bagger. This model came with a Kohler engine, three blade fab deck, with front gauge wheels. My first venture with Tuff Torq transmission. Very clean and level cut. Engine does not bog down, even in foot high grass. Knocked off about 45 minutes from cutting time. I was apprehensive about the foot pedal accelerator arrangement. I was pleasantly surprised how user friendly this had become. I preferred Husky over some of the other brands, as Husky has kept the designs simple, with out all the bells and whistles that seem to keep going bad on other brands.

I bought this mower with the three cutting blades. Yes it left streaks in the center. But you have to clean out the deck an not mow in wet conditions. Unlike a stamped deck you have to clean this one out keep it clean and its a beast. Also will scalp the low spots but once it does your yard is way more level than before. This will not get stuck like my old mower did - ditches, slope etc. Excellent mower! Bought it in spring 2015

I bought this unit in June 2013 with the power triple bagger......This is the biggest piece of JUNK I've ever owned. Eats bagger belts like candy because of such a poor design. This machine has been nothing but a pain since I bought it........
