Well, I've read all of the other reviews and can sympathize with some of you, but I also feel that I have to admonish all of you and anyone else that purchases an item like this from home centers. First, from what I have read, you bought the tractor at Lowes or some other home center and then drove it as if you were a woman of the 50's and 60's driving a car for the first time - JUST PUT GAS IN IT AND DRIVE!!!!! Now I have to admit that I did the same thing when I first got it, but as a mechanic who was taught to pay attention to the little things, like noises and drifting, I new something wasn't right. So after the first grass cutting, I pulled it into the garage, dropped the deck, and then placed the whole tractor on stands for a complete once over. Here's what I found - #1 One squirt of grease in all of the necessary areas from the factory. ONE SQUIRT!!! Talk about cheap. The front wheels bearings are made of a nylon or a soft iron composite and do not go all of the way through the wheel flange, There is a BIG cavity that you need to fill with grease in order to prevent bearing failure. While I'm talking about this, the welded on axle cup ( on the inside of the wheel) grinds against the zerk fitting due to lack of clearance. Pull the wheel, install a 3/4 inch ID washer to add the clearance you need. Don't worry, you've got plenty of room to replace the outer washer and 'C' clip. Grease ALL of the remaining zerks that you can find until grease is coming out from around the washers. Don't worry. You won't blow any seals. Then wipe off the excess. When you finish with the tractor, go over the deck in the same fashion. Now take a SHARPIE, open the hood and document inside the hood what date you greased, or changed the oil and filter, etc. This way, if it needs to go in the shop for repairs, everything you've done to satisfy the warranty is on display and the repairman can see this also. NOW -#2 Don't believe everything that the salesperson told you about THIS particular tractor. They don't even know and were never instructed properly. The transaxle on this model is a K46x (x being the series designator). It is used in Husqvarna / Craftsman; John Deere; Simplicity; Snapper; Cub Cadets; Yardman; etc. Any of the LIGHT duty tractors. Anyway, This tractor WILL NOT accept all of the goodies that they tell you in the brochure due to its weight limitations. After three seasons of cutting grass and pulling a sprayer, a spreader, a 3 blade harrow and a chain drag, the back axle on the right side snapped off within the wheel hub. Come to find out, this happens to a a majority of the K46x series, not to mention that these transaxles need a rebuild every few years if they start to slow down (internal filter gets plugged) and whine. Rebuild kits run as high as $390 for parts versus $670 - $1000 for a complete new unit. Ebay has some listed at $500 used and untested, so buyer beware. You can try and upgrade to the K66x or even the K71x with some minor mods. Both of these units sport beefier 1 inch axles.Anyway, I've had the tractor since 2012, and with only the few problems I've had, I really can't say that it was a bad buy. I just think Husqvarna / Craftsman needs to look at their product line better. I'm looking into purchasing the GT54XLS. But from the new local dealer in town. The wife won't let me trade the LTG2654 on the beefier tractor, so she's going to keep it, and I get the new one. My other option is the KUBOTA.By the way. After the axle snapped, I did some deep research and found that, depending on the day of the week, the Husqvarna 'L' / Craftsman ; John Deere 'L' and 'LA'; Simplicity; Snapper; Yardman; and Cub Cadets of the LIGHT duty garden tractors come off the same assembly line. It just depends on the day of the week who gets assembled. If today is Tuesday, it may be John Deere 'L' or 'LA' day. And if you're really hard-pressed for the repair parts to the transaxle or front axle assembly, JD parts has items in stock according to a new online article. At the same time, JD just announced that the cheaper axle and wheel assy can be replaced with a dual tapered bearing unit for about $180.By the way Husqvarna, everything that I've said here IS relevant to this tractor or any of the other tractors you manufacture and sell.

Bought this mower 5/17/2014 from lowes because my old craftsman mower (GT5000) was looking its age and I just had to have the cool looking Husqvarna LGT2654. I gave the craftsman mower away and its still running till this day making me feel pretty stupid with my big orange lawn ornament! I bought this mower thinking it would be a step up....not so much. The wheels are so narrow you can't get traction without wheel weights, the hydrostatic transmission is horrible for pulling heavy carts, the drive belt slips off and gets stuck in the pulley, and the deck spindles are shot already. I called husqvarna customer service and they directed me to a lawn and garden store that does warranty work only to be told sorry you bought it when it had a two year warranty.

Engine might last a long time but the transmissions are trash. 210 hours of mowing and it started to leak. Dealer said they can't open them so they did a whole replacement. $1300.00

After 3 years
from Ham lake Minnesota
I read all the reviews after I bought this tractor and was sweating bullets thinking it would break as soon as the warranty was up. I am now 3 years into year round use and with the exception of a few belts it still works excellent. I mow 2.5 acres and I have the blower attachment for a 300' driveway plus my ice rink. my only negative comments would be, traction. I wish a diff lock was available, power steering would be nice and a faster reverse. But ultimately you get what you pay for. I have 255 hours on my machine and I use it almost 4-5 days a week.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I bought this mower 3 years ago and two transmissions failed. I have a sloped yard and is a bit challenging however that said, this mower should have not had a problem. The mower ran great for the first year than end of season on year 2 the transmission quit. Warrentied the transmission same thing, that new transsion quit at end of 1 season. Do not buy this mower.

Comments about LGT26K54:
After 2 1/2 years (only 121 hours) the rear frames broke!
I have put 200 hours on this mower and have not encountered any issues so far. I maintain 15 hilly acres and have used the mower for just about everything I can think of. My biggest complaint is traction. I am 200lbs and when the blades are engaged, climbing and cutting sometimes requires a more thoughtful approach. When only driving the power has been sufficient. I bushhog to 13in and use this mower to follow up, and it makes quick work of grass that length. It handles well around the house and the quality of cut is great. I wish I could cut in reverse, this would make areas around the house easier. It seems very well built.

Me and my wife bought this mower lgt2654 this year great mower hand control on the right side we love that easy and user friendly. We mower a 5 acer park mostly rolling hills does great. We own cub cadets 2650 they get weak around 400 hours getting over 500 hours on the old husqvarna mowers we had before. It's all about maintenance check mowing deck, engine oil every mowing and no problems. And zero turns are nothing but trouble.
