I got my 545 about a week ago and have put it to good use, starting with two chords of firewood, combo of both hard and softwoods. One thing I noticed right off the bat is the over all weight of the saw, it feels as lite and more controllable then 40cc saws I've ran in the past and excellent power all across the powerband. The AutoTune feature isn't just a nice perk, or extra, but almost a necessity with as well as it works and consistent as it is. Also the Anti vibe that's built into the 545 brings true meaning to Av, the only vibration I can feel is the engine idling and that's impossible to avoid, but once it spools up there's no feeling of the chain in the kerf to speak of with H23 chain that I run on it. I have nothing but good to say about my saw and know for a fact it will serve me with flawless operation. As Husqvarna always does, this machine is just another example of how good they are at what they do. Thanks guys for such a great saw!

Feb 2014, I have ran four tanks of fuel through my 545 and I am getting dust in the intake past the air filter this is why I have fair for durability. This saw was built mid 2012, looking at part numbers on Husqvarna's website I've found there are nine updated parts for saws built before may 2013, these include carb air filter clutch cover brake band assy chain tensioner parts crankcase assy and needle bearing that requires a new crankshaft, almost a complete new saw!

Comments about HUSQVARNA 545:
I have 2 xp saws. The 562xp and the 545. The 562xp has a 24 inch bar and I use an Oregon jpx chain on it. The 545 I run an Oregon lpx chain and it cuts awesome with a 20 inch bar. On my first day of ownership I downed 45 cottonwood trees with no issues. On day 2 I turned 2.8 cords of firewood out of those trees. I find that by pressing the primer 10 times instead of 6 I have a running saw in 2 pulls. When the saw is hot I apply the choke and pop it down to run to lock the throttle and the saw starts in one pull. I love this lightweight saw for continuous use.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I love it but....
About Me Do-It-Yourself
I loved my 545 when it ran, it up and stopped running on me in the middle of falling and never to start again. To it in and for a pocket full of money it can be maybe fixed.
Husqvarna was way ahead of the competition
from Durand, MI
Purchased this saw several years ago when Auto-Tune was a new technology. My local dealers started supplying these new saws way before the white saw dealers had M-Tronic available. This saw is basically a de-tuned 550xp, I believe the P&C are a tad different and the tune (software) is a bit different. power, weight and all around ergonomics are an improvement from its predecessor the Husqvarna 353 which I also own and recommend. For about 100.00 less than the 550xp you get a superb farm or firewood saw that should last many years with proper maintenance and good oil/fuel. I love the fact that many parts including the final assembly of this saw are manufactured in Sweden still, the quality really does show.
Great when... you get it running...If you get running

Cuts like a dream but starting is a night mare!! I LOVE Husqvarna they made my first shot gun it has a trigger and a safety, very intuitive and simple unlike the 545.. Pump the fuel ball 6 times (with your glovers on..) Pull the choke or not? Don't do the gas or do the gas..??, pump the bladder 4 times or not? NO wait was it six times, ,,,not sure if the saw warm?, Cold or somewere in-between?? pull pull pull---flood...!!! The (H) is for hard work ! I have a cheap Partner saw it's not great---BUT IT STARTS! The way this saw pollutes less is because it makes me want to get an electric!!!I dont want to be negative but its really not an easy saw to work out.. I have read the manual and watched the you tube video. I want to like this saw .
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Great saw for general tree work.
from brainerd, mn
Had a cheap 33cc saw and used it for cutting a few smaller trees and branches and it started and cut well with a sharp chain if you did not push the saw. We had a huge storm come through in July of 2015 that broke off many trees up to 24" in diameter. I need a larger displacement saw and wanted a saw that was not extremely heavy since I am over 70yrs old but could cut through both hard and soft wood up to 24" in diameter. I settled on the Husqvarna 545 and am very happy with this saw. My neighbor bought a MS250 and I realise that it has about 10% less displacement and horsepower, but my Husqvarna 545 is easily twice as fast going through a 18-20" Oak log.

About Me Novice
I purchased a Husqvarna chainsaw from Strathbogie Forrest and garden in Huntly Aberdeenshire. The total cost including the safety equipment was in excess of £1000. I really wish I had researched this better before I took the plunge. This saw has given me nothing but problems since I bought it. I have found this machine extremely temperamental and a complete nightmare to start. This is despite having courses in chainsaw maintenance and heavily studying the owners handbook and youtube. I am very disappointed with this saws performance and found their agent( Bob from Strathbogie Forrest & Garden) extremely arrogant and unhelpful. After this experience I will not be returning to Strathbogie Forrest & Garden & I will certainly not be purchasing another Husqvarna product.

545 v.s. stihl
I have had stihl saws for 30 years and never had any trouble . I always heard huskys were a good saw.i was not impressed.it leaked bar oil when they gave it to meand got home would not start. then got it started and it ran very bad. messed with this saw back and forth for 4 days. took it back and got a 311 stihl 20 in. bar and it like the way life should be.

I have only experienced two problems with the 545. Cranking when the saw is warm or even hot. Half the time the 545 is very hard to crank if it will crank at all. The saw cranks fine when its being cranked for the first time for the day. Its just hard to crank after the saw has ran for awhile. This only occurs about half the time. The other problem is the fuel line in the tank isn't long enough. When about 75% of the gas is gone, the saw will die. This only happens with the saw is laid on its side(i.e.cutting a tree down). When the saw is put back upright, it will run fine. Lay the saw back on its side, it will die out again. I realized the saw wasn't getting enough gas. After checking the gas tank every time this occurred, I realized the molded gas line was not allowing the filter (at the very end of the gas line). The filter was just hanging in the air, not reaching the rest of the gas. The molded gas line is the problem. I would recommend this saw to others, but also would tell the about the problems.

I purchased a small XPro saw back in 2011, by no means a cheap unit. The saw does not work every day, in fact it might not work for many weeks, due to the nature of my business in either steel or timber construction.Just this week I had to take this saw to my mechanic and he believes the saw may have a major crankcase issue. He is doing a strip and quote examination and should the worst damage be realised, the repair will be more expensive than a new saw.I hope a Husqvana employee reads this review as I am very disappointed in the most expensive chainsaw I have purchased and probably won't purchase again. Four years of periodic use from a saw I thought would give me many years of service is very poor performance. We no longer have a dealership in my area, the Stihl dealer is here, but I have bought Husky for 20 years, and have three other Husky saws that have worked just as hard as the XPro saw that went kaaput.I trust other readers don't have the disappointment that I have experienced with an XPro product.I will add the mechanics findings to this review when they become available. This could be good-bye Husqvana.

A Really great 50 cc plus chainsaw
from Hancocks Bridge,NJ
I Luv my new chainsaw, Thank you Husqvarna. The Model 545 Autotune is fantastic so many great features, the easy sight gauge for fuel, the Snap top cover, the ease of greasing the drive sprocket, easy air filter replacement and cleaning, very low Anti-vibration. It started repeatedly on the first and second pull, icluding right out of the box. I luv the new all in one choke, start, run, & stop switch, much better than two separate switches. Also really like all the rubber air seals around, the de-compression valve, the choke/ start switch, and the primer bulb. I think Husqvarna went overboard and made a great chainsaw. Oh, did I forget to mention it has Auto tune too! Wow & Thanks again.
