Garden in need of some TLC? Here are 10 tasks to do this autumn - along with the best tools to use to get them done like a pro.
If you're one of those who are guilty of throwing your tools in a shed, you might just benefit from these simple tips for storing your tools during winter.
At this time of year, most gardens are on the verge of entering winter dormancy. But just because things are starting to slow down and get ready to enjoy a well-deserved rest, doesn't mean that the same is true for you. Winter can be a brutal time for your grass, plants and soil; so a helping hand is needed if you want it to thrive come spring.
Dull mower blades not only makes for a less than attractive finish to your lawn, but can also make it easy for disease to take a hold resulting in bare patches, unsightly grass, and a whole host of other issues.
If you want your tools to last, you need to maintain them. That means regular care, cleaning, servicing and proper storage.
Like any machine, every lawn mower needs regular maintenance. Without regular maintenance, the chances of problems developing increases significantly as time goes by.
Over time, leaves, moss, debris and even birds nests can make it difficult for rainwater runoff to drain away properly.
When it’s slippery, or if you have slopes on your lawn, our terrain kit helps your Automower® to perform. This guide shows you how you can easily switch to a terrain kit. If you have an Automower® 300-series go here for instructions:
When the blades become worn, or when the tip of the grass blades begin to whiten and look frayed when cutting, you should change the blades on your Automower® to maintain performance. Make sure you always use original blades and screws, and always replace the screw at the same time as the blade when carrying out maintenance, otherwise the screw can be worn out and cause the blade to come loose when operating.
Change the oil after every 25 hours of operation or each season. You may need to change the oil more often under dusty, dirty conditions. There are two ways of draining the oil, both shown in this video.
Before tipping the lawn mower to drain oil, empty the fuel tank by running the engine until the fuel tank is empty.

Having the right tools for the job when gardening is of course essential for getting a good result. Changing from a trimmer line to a grass blade on your Husqvarna brushcutter is easy; just watch the video and follow these simple steps. Make a habit of always charging the battery when the machine is not in use. When the battery is fully charged, the charger goes into maintenance charging mode. Incorrectly used, broken or faulty, a battery charger can cause an electric shock, overheat, or leak battery acid. Remember that the batteries must be recharged with the battery charger supplied.
Charging should be carried out in an ideal surrounding temperature of 0 to 40°C. Do not charge at temperatures below 0°C, or in direct sunlight. Make sure to keep the charger out of children’s reach.
