Things to consider when buying a new garden tractor

Looking for the best option when buying a new garden tractor? Here are a few tips to help you choose the right one.

The right size for the job

In general, if your garden is larger and more open it’s more important that your garden tractor has a generous cutting width. However, if there are lots of obstructions, like trees and bushes, it’s better to choose a garden tractor that is small enough to go through the tightest passages. We offer tractors with cutting widths from 77 cm up to 137 cm in the Husqvarna garden tractor range.

Collector or side ejection?

A Husqvarna Garden Tractor helps you achieve first-class results using the cutting method best suited to your lawn. Choose a model with an integrated collector when you want to collect clippings and achieve tidy results. For quick and effective cutting, choose a side-ejecting tractor. Switch to the BioClip® (mulching) mode when your lawn needs fertilizing.

Accessories for greater versatility

Our garden tractors can be equipped with a wide range of accessories so that you can use your tractor for more purposes, all year round. For instance, you can use it as a leaf collector, a moss rake, a scarifier and spreader for lawn preparation, a front-mounted brush, or as a snow blade or snow thrower for clearing driveways and paths and there’s a trailer attachment to make your work in the garden easier.

Choosing a transmission

A garden tractor with hydrostatic transmission is much easier to operate than a tractor with manual transmission. With manual transmission you have to stop the tractor every time you change gears. The hydrostatic transmission gives you stepless adjustment while driving.

There are two different hydrostatic transmission solutions. For maximum comfort, choose a tractor with a pedal-operated transmission, where separate pedals control speed and direction for forward and reverse movement. The other option is the lever-operated hydrostat. The lever is on the fender and is easy to access from the driver’s seat.

A few facts to help you choose the right tractor:

  1. A garden tractor with an integrated collector has the most effective system for collection.
  2. When mowing high and coarse grass, the most effective cutting deck is the side ejection type.
  3. By using different types of accessories our tractors can be adapted for collection, BioClip® cutting and ejection, to suit your type of lawn and mowing habits.
  4. Most tractors with integrated collectors (CT/CTH models) come with a BioClip® plug as standard, whereas a deflector for rear ejection can be bought as an accessory.
  5. Most side ejection tractors can be equipped with the 2 or 3-bin collector accessory.
  6. All side ejection tractors can be equipped with accessories for BioClip® cutting.
  7. Since the tractors with integrated collectors don’t have a deflector that sticks out on the side of the cutting deck, they can work in tighter spaces than the side ejecting models.

Husqvarna launches Apple Watch app for Husqvarna Automower®

As the first producer of outdoor power products in the world, Husqvarna has launched an app for Apple Watch. With the Automower® Connect Apple Watch app you always have the status of your robotic mower at an arms reach – no matter where you are.

Husqvarna Automower® Connect is a smartphone app that allows you to interact with your robotic mower from wherever you are. Now it’s time for the sequel. The Automower® Connect Apple Watch app makes it even easier and more enjoyable to own the Husqvarna Automower®.

    Key interactions

The Automower® Connect Apple Watch app contains the most essential functionalities of the smartphone app. It enables you to quickly start, park, stop and check the status of your robotic mower, right from your wrist. If you are in the supermarket and your daughter wants to let the dog out into the garden, she won’t have to wait until you get home. Simply stop the Automower® with a command from your Apple Watch. There’s also a glance feature, giving you access to the status of your mower with a simple swipe on the watch face.

Andreas Källming, who has been part of developing the app, explains that designing for Apple Watch requires a whole new approach to interactions compared with when you design for smartphones and tablets.

“The Apple Watch is not created for you to interact with for more than three or four seconds at a time. You should be able to take action quickly – and then get on with your day. It should liberate you from your smartphone, yet keep you informed and in control”, he says.

    Your personal digital eco-system

The market for wearable technology is growing and Andreas Källming sees a future where connected products such as cars, keys, means of identification – and now robotic mowers – will create personal digital eco-systems, that simplifies everyday life for the users.

“We are always working to have a cutting edge approach to new technology and we continue to look for new ways to make it more fun and convenient to own and use our products”, Källming concludes.

For a closer look at the watch, take a look at this video.

The Automower® Connect Apple Watch app is available for Husqvarna Automower® models 320 and 330X. The robotic mower must be equipped with a SIM card. Talk to your dealer for information about pricing and installation.
