Great product for the money
I have had my new ZTR for a month now and have enjoyed operating it and appreciate the quality results I have experienced. It seems to be designed with comfort and ease of operating it in mind.
The few complaints I have with it include things I had read in reviews so they did not come as a surprise.
1. The fuel tank holds just under 3 gallons and will run the machine just over 1 1/2 hours before refueling is required.
2. The OEM blades lost their wings (since they are for bagging they have a big offset) after 5 hours and after 9 hours I replaced worn out blades with after market blades which have less offset and are wider blades.
3. I have not had any problem with the grass being damaged from the exhaust as some reviews referred to so maybe that problem has been resolved.
4. Be prepared to always wear hearing protection because it is loud when operating.

Speedy yard mowing
The RZ5424 reduced my mowing time at least 50% compared to my previous Craftsman 42 inch rider.
Only mowed my yard twice but performance has been good.
A couple of issues occured at delivery and start-up but Service addressed each issue.
Well pleased with the RZ5424 Zero Turn Mower.

Great Value compared to similar zero turns!
I purchased this mower 3 months ago and have cut with it almost weekly since. This was my first zero-turn mower and I upgraded from a good 20hp 42 inch Craftsman riding mower. I immediately cut my 2 plus acre cut time from 2.4 hours to 1.7 hours on my first time ever. I have been getting better and better and finished the last time in just 0.9 hours. The speed is great and you can save a lot of time with the large deck. The earlier complaints of mufflers burning grass, and not being able to tow anything have been corrected since then. There is a heat shield guard under the muffler and a tow hitch built in! The instructions are easy to read and follow. The only negatives I can think of would be the traction in wet or damp areas. In these areas your lucky to not slide or get stuck. In the dry, it drives like a champ! The fuel tank is small, but i can cut my yard about 1.5 times before refueling. All in all, I would recommend this to someone else! Husqvarna 54 inch deck 24 hp Kohler.

RZ5424 No Good
Well where do I start. I bought a new Husqvarna when I moved to the country 3 years ago and I went through 2 mowers. My first one was a Husqvarna rider and the wheels on the deck kept falling off and the spindles on the blades broke because of my rough lawn. (they say). Then I hurryed up and figured I would buy a more heavier duty mower so I picked out the RZ5424 zero turn mower and traded in late 2009. I liked my zero turn BUT I mow 4 acres and it took 5 hours to mow. No big deal, but the lawn is not smooth like a golf coarse and I broke a spindle off on the blade because the tractor deck was on a angle and I thought it was suppose to be like that. That was a 80 dallor mistake. Then I took it to the neighbors to mow there lawn and while mowing I was turning around in a circle and the mower would not straighten out. Here the spindle on the rearend rounded off and I had to get a whole new rear end for it. Lucky it was covered under warrenty but it was down for 3 weeks waiting for parts. Then this year 2011 I was mowing and my deck levelers straightened out and I took it back to the shop and they told me that the deck was shot. I couldnt believe it. A 2 year old mower and all these problems! So I got it fixed under warrenty and now it sits in the garage waiting for a new owner. I bught a bran new Scag Zero Turn and just love it. Nothing even can compare to it. So beware of these mowers they are cheap made.

My only complaint is a lack traction on banks
and wet grass

I have mowed three times with my new unit. It cuts my time to 1/3 the normal time or the 42" rider normal steer Craftsman tractor.
I could use a little more power in the thick grass and a little higher traveling and loading clearance. The center neutral position must have an adjustment on it some where? I have not read up on it yet. It needs to stop and stay put while I transition to apply the hand brake. At start up it can roll once the brake is released.
Not a big problem, if you know this when unloading for the first time.
Now to test how long it will last with three 2 acres lots to keep mowed.

Nothing Like a Husqvarna Zero Turn Mower
This is my first Zero Turn Mower. I rode a conventional mower for 25 years, and now wished I would have bought a ZTR sooner. The 54" cut works right through my 2.5 acre yard with ease. It cut my mowing time by 1 hour. I also love it for the ride and the excellent maneuverability. I can hardly wait to mow these days. The 24HP Kohler has power to spare. It is the most reliable engine ever. My previous mower had a Kohler and I ran it 17 years without any problems. I sold the mower and the engine still runs great and uses no oil. I highly recommend this RZ5424 Husqvarna mower for a large yard. It is the best.
