I can't even begin to explain how powerful and awesome this machine is. Living in New England, we get hammered with snow -- particularly this January (2015). This Husqvarna snowblower plowed through the most vicious snowbanks like a hot knife through butter. The shoot has yet to clog, and I've yet to be disappointed. It starts every time, and I can zip through my driveway, sidewalks, and mazes for my dogs in a jiffy. My neighbors are in 'awe' when they see me carve-out paths in a fraction of the time that it takes them with their less reliable, powerful snow throwers. One guy came up to me last week and asked what kind I bought, and said 'I saw you plowing through this it was nothing'.I paid about $900 at Lowes for this. Worth every penny. I'm so glad I didn't opt for anything less, otherwise I know my snow removal duties would be taking me at least twice as long.

Paid 799.,which seemed great price. Looks well made. Used it 5 times and stopped throwing snow.Brought it back to dealer. He stated it needed a new belt. Also, off the cuff remark about a design problem that might eat belts up in future. Not getting proper alignment for tension, something like that. Repaired for free(only 2 months old. Used it today, 4 inches of snow. Auger spins constantly now and wobbles, makes a noise like it is out of round. Going back with it n a few weeks. Would like to see if I can get a refund of some sort and apply it to a Ariens. Neighbor let me use his when I didn't have a machine. It was a 27inch,7 years old. What a machine, power and way more substancial than the Husky.

Comments about ST 224:
Same problem with my blower, Keeps blowing the belt off. Never had this problem with the Areins I bought in 1996. Moved to NC in 2006 and sold it to the old guy that lived next store. Guess what? He still has it and its going Strong. Know what I did, Sold husqvarna and got another Ariens. Their Great! Their MOWERS are just as bad. But that's another story.

No control of lights, heated handles?

About Me Novice
Nothing in literature lets me know how to turn on and off the dual headlights. Likewise, not a word about how to turn on or off the headed handles although both of these are advertised features. Sad the manufacturer offers no support for these features they advertise as selling points.
I would NEVER BUY this one at all

About Me Do-It-Yourself
The product is poorly made ....... NO replacement parts when it breaks down...... it broke down within the first two weeks of operation. The cables that move the transmission are bare and break easily ....AND the parts are not available to repair ???? NOT what I expected from this company and its reputation ......STAY AWAY
Great small machine
ST224 is more than adequate. It handles light snow almost too well. The first time I used it it threw powdery snow completely across my 40 foot lawn and out to the street. I just cleared 4" of slush off my driveway, and it threw it 20 feet with no clogging. It is a heavy machine, so some people might have difficulty handling it. I still haven't gotten the heated handgrips to work, but that's not a deal breaker. All in all, I'm very happy.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
I would buy this product again. High Reliability
from Stamford, CT
I bought this in November 2014 and have used it about 15 times including this past weekend (7Jan2017). Over that time, I have broken two shears bolts after the auger picked up something that would have killed the blower. Replacing tghe shear bolts takes no more than 5 minutes. This is a beauty of a product. Glad I did the research and went with a HUSQVARNA product.

I think Husqvarna missed the mark on some of the features of this ST224 snowthrower. Below I list the pros and cons of my experience using this snowthrower after 8 snowthrowing opportunities.PROS:Great dash controls. Includes deflector rotation and snow deflection height.24 inch is a perfect sizeLove the adjustable handleLight weight for easy maneuveringGreat blowing power and distanceLCT engine works great. Easy starting both from starting cord and electric start.LED head lights work goodGood forward drive speedsCONS:Most snowthrowers I previous used had the auger lever on the left handle and the drive lever on the right handle. This snowthrower is the opposite.R1 reverse is way too slow. It should include a faster R2 speed option. I usually end up pulling it backwards.Hand warmers are worthless. Hand warmers should get hot, these don't even get luke warm (tested with my bare hands). I checked for a disconnected wire and found all connections were good. I measured the AC voltage to each hand warmer and measured 12.59-12.67 amps which should be good.Deflection chute should rotate more than 180 degrees total (past 90 degrees in both directions). When I get to the end of the driveway, the snow is thrown into the street and not back into my yard.

Have one and love it thinking of buying another one.

I own and operate a lawn care business in ky and do snow removal for a few of my customers. I purchased this snow thrower last fall to replace my shovel and it was some of the best money I've spent. The first storm of 2016 I used it 3 days in a row for 10/12 hrs a day with out a bit of trouble. I use to wish it would never snow now I say bring it on.
Under powered and lowest speed is still much too fast
from Rochester, NY
I have been using snow throwers for 25 years in Rochester, NY where we have to deal with lots of lake effect snow. The machine I just replaced was 20 years old, but what I loved was it had a 10 HP engine...most lawn mowers are 6 HP, so something moving snow should probably be more powerful. First thing I learned this year (2016) is that manufacturers no longer list Horse Power, but CC's(displacement) for engine size. I'm thinking it is an easier way to supply less horse power without saying so. An equivalent 10 HP today will run you at least $1500, which was out of my budget. So November 21, 2016 we have our first significant snow fall...about 7 inches of relatively heavy snow. What surprised me was the slowest speed setting (out of 6) was twice as fast as my old machine. At the end of the driveway where you have a larger pile of snow after the roads have been plowed, the wheels were pushing the machine thru faster than the auger could move the snow. I had to keep stopping the drive to let the auger catch up. Relative to my three(3) decades using snow throwers, in my opinion this is a significant design flaw. Also, the Auger Control & Drive Control are backwards! I kept grabbing the wrong ones...will I get used to it, probably. But then why did Husqvarna put 2 levers inside the handles. The Speed Control Lever is next to the Auger Control and opposite the Drive Control!

This blower is amazing! No amount of snow appeared to slow it down last winter. Easy start and handling.
