Christmas present to myself Been needing a bigger saw for some 30"+ oaks and finally bit the bullet. Picked up a 390xpW with a 32" bar and full skip chain. Lots of power and real smooth running. Not overly heavy,power to weight ratio is excellent and pulls the 32" B/C with no problem. Also have a 20+ year old 266xp that is still eating wood. January 11, 2013
Best 90cc saw for the money my bigger saw I climb with. very user friendly... linear power band makes it very predictable in the tree. Plenty of torque. I run a 24" on this saw primarily for its nimbleness. You wont realize its a 90cc when you use it all day and chains are available at the big box stores... never leaves the truck now... about the same weight as a 576 but a lot more umph. LOVE the 390... perfect balance of weight, power and ergonomics. September 30, 2012
A POWER HOUSE!! I bought this saw a while back and it is truely my favorite saw that I have ever ran. I use this saw everyday for logging,I fall, buck and limb large timber. I also have the 576XP Auto Tune and I love it too! Powerful durable and fuel efficient. Husqvarna is the only brand I buy, thanks for such great machines! August 3, 2012
sometimes a good thing hurts i bought this saw to cut some big oak's and the first time i used it thought to myself this things got POWER. But after owning it for almost a year and useong it several other times it just seemed like it had more and more power as it got broke in i have a 32in bar on mine and if your wearing kinda thin pants it throws chips so hard against you leg it actually almost hurts, but all in all this thing is a power house and not to taken lightly. Sthil Killer Just bought a new 390XP chainsaw that I run w/ a 28 in bar. The power to weight ratio is just right. Prior to this i have to identical 288XP's that have been time tested and still run like this new one for being about 20 years old. One unfortunately fell victim to a falling tree and the other will continue to run as a backup. Vibration is minimal compared to other saws of near cc size. I cut about on average 20 cords of firewood a year and enjoy time after time how these saws out perform the rest of the sthils out there. Where I live is truly "sthil country" but slowly changing the mindset after people witness the power and SPEED of these saws. These saws are quick. Now for the drawback. For being a brand new saw equipped with a "compression release" for easier hand pulling of crank, this saw still requires finesse with the choke and about 5 to 6 pulls to start for the first start of the day. I'd expect a new saw to start within 1 to 3 pulls. July 25, 2011
