As a homeowner with almost an acre to care for, dependable lawn equipment is necessary to keep me from having a fit. The line of equipment that Husqvarna offers fills all the needs that I have and their quality is second to none. This review is for my 122HD60 Hedge Trimmer, the tool that fills in the gaps left between the chainsaw and the rake. The trimmer's mechanical advantages are what we have come to expect from Husqvarna tools so I won't go into that too much. Just to say the engine starts every time, it has very low vibration and all the power needed for the job of sliding the blades forward and aft rapidly. The things to comment on are as follows.....The blades are heavy duty with plenty of rigidity. They are well greased and move with all the inertia necessary to slice through wet wood up to 3/4" with no problems. They are snug enough to not move until the engine reaches a high RPM and thus accidental slicing is not going to happen while at idle speeds. The ergonomics of the handles, trigger location and balance are spot on. Twisted in any direction feels natural weather or not you use the included swivel handle. The muffler is wonderful. There is an extension port that helps to direct the flow of hot gasses away from the area of operation and toward the front of the blade port. Absolutely makes using the tool a breeze and pleasure. The homeowner who has a chainsaw and a rake will find that this tool is the perfect one to finish the job. When you don't need to bring out the chain saw but don't want to spend the day breaking up twigs to fit in the trash, this tool will definitely make you a happy homeowner. The MSRP is just a bit too high for the amount of usage that a typical homeowner may have to justify vs. the price but if you can see giving out a little extra for something that will last, you will certainly be happy with this purchase.

Just got the trimmer in. Looked good when I took it out of the box. Gassed it up, started right up. Ready to start trimming - as soon as I touch the throttle it dies. Checked the spark plug gap - it is set correctly. Not a gas problem because I used the same gas in my string trimmer today - tried a tank full of the Husqvarna pre mixed gas just to be sure - same problem. Ran the carb idle adjustment screw all the way in and all the way out - virtually no change in the RPM other than at both extremes it dies. The only way I could get any cutting done at all was to leave it at half choke. Also any time I flipped it to its left side it cut off.So now I have to take a brand new trimmer to take to a dealer to get it fixed.

Comments about 122HD60:
So many bad reviews, so many issues with cutting out, so many issues with the dang thing not running more than 15 minutes, so much negative feedback and little or response. I have an issue that the fuel is getting to the carburetor. It appears that the fuel line into the tank is not staying below the level of the gas. When I look into the gas tank, there are many other parts inside than what are listed on your spare parts page. I cannot tell if the fuel line in the tank has broken or become disconnected to other parts in the tank.YOU PARTS DIAGRAM IS INCOMPLETE. It is of little or no help for this issue. When can I expect a revised diagram for all the lines in the tank? This is not good customer support.

Terrible product, do not buy!
from Ebensburg, PA
Like many other reviews, mine was garbage the second time I used it. The first time I used it, I was so happy with my purchase because it was a significant upgrade from my electric trimmer. Later that summer when I used it the second time, it would stall every time I pushed the trigger. I paid $80 to have it fixed, used it once and it was fine. Again, the second time I used it I had the same problem. I've tried everything I can think of and get no results from this trimmer. I bought based on brand name, but will never purchase a Husqvarna product again. I now have what I consider to be a pile of expensive junk that I cannot use.

Pretty good, with a few flaws
from Buford, GA
I purchased this trimmer (122hd60) a month or two ago for my small landscaping business. I needed a gasoline trimmer and this was the one recommended by my local dealer. The dealer was very nice and even started it up in the back to make sure it worked before giving it to me. The unit seems fairly powerful and is enough to cut anything I need (shrubs, bushes, etc). The starting process is simple and easy, and the unit starts without too much trouble. It does bog a lot when cold, but it will pull through and reach rpm once warmer. As far as durability, it has held up well so far, but there is a significant amount of plastic that could break eventually... Will have to see. Overall, it is a good unit and a good alternative to Echo's HC152 or Stihl's HS45. For about the same price, this model comes with the longest knife length out of the three brands.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Loved Husqvarna products until I purchased the 122HD60
from Nashville, TN
Nothing but problems since I purchased the 122HD60 2 years ago. My hedge trimmer looks like it's 2 weeks old and performs like it's 20 years old. The carburetor on this machine is nothing but trouble no matter how many adjustments are made. I have a Husqvarna pole saw and backpack blower that are as dependable as any machine could be. But the 122HD60 has given me pause about purchasing Husqvarna again since I have never been able to use it for more than 15 minutes without having trouble. Now the pull-cord recoil is not working properly... of course I'm not surprised since I have to restart every two minutes! NOT FAN OF THE HUSQVARNA 122HD50 and don't recommend it at all!
Husquavarna 122HD 60 Trimmer (Will not start)
from Sevierville, Tennessee 37862
Trimmer purchased over a year ago and it originally started and ran for a couple trimmings. I used in early Spring (2015) and had difficulty in starting, but it finally did start and I trimmed my bushes and hedge. I cleaned clipping residue off of trimmer and placed in garden shed once all my trimming was finished. Took out again for fall trimming of bushes and hedge and it would not start. I had used all the fuel at the time of last trimming, so I believe contaminated fuel was not an issue. I refilled the tank with fresh Husqvarna fuel as I have used only the Husqvarna fuel since the time I purchased the trimmer. The fuel was an added free incentive that came with the trimmer. I took out the spark plug, checked the gap and followed procedure to start, but it still does not start. My only alternative is to take it back to where I purchased it (Sevierville COOP) and have technician try to find the problem. I would have thought I would not have such a problem, being as new and well kept when not in use that this trimmer has turned out to be.

Can't get this run twice in a row...even after 5 minutes
from Sarasota, FL
Comments about Husqvarna 122HD60:
First let me say that I own a husqvarna gas trimmer and gas edger and haven't had any issues with either. This has been the biggest disappointment i've ever had in a gas powered machine I have ever purchased...it won't start twice...even when it was just used 5 minutes earlier when I do occasionally get it started.I've paid to have it serviced multiple times to get it started at different "Husqvarna service centers" and last time I asked them to start it before I took it home and they had problems starting it.If you buy this, you'll just be wasting your money!Wish I could list some pros but it would have to start first.

Great for home owner use
This was a replacement for a older Husqvarna commercial hedge trimmer that I also own. I'll start the review with the bad. First thing is the owners manual I received with the unit is not in English except for the 1st 3 pages and that is all safety and warnings info. I can see this being very problematic for the occasional outdoor power equipment consumer. For the non informed consumer how would they know the correct oil/fuel mixture if that info is not even provided in English? I own several other Husqvarna outdoor power equipment products that all require 50:1 mix ratio's so that is what I used in these hedge trimmers.I never use "pump gas" in my 2 stroke equipment and use aviation LL100 mixed with a premium 2-stroke oil mixed very precisely at 50:1. I think is why so many people have problems with their 2-stroke products. They use pump gas containing Ethanol mixed with to much oil. To much oil is not a good thing for 2-stroke motors and will cause lean run conditions. After adding the fuel and priming the trimmers fired up on the 3 rd pull and I was surprised how quiet they run. So after a short engine warming period it's time for a carb tune. Due to US EPA regulations it's been my experience that all 2-stroke motors on outdoor power equipment is set way to lean from the factory. There are tools available online to adjust these anti-tamper fuel adjustment screws and they will need to be enriched for optimal performance! So after the quick tune it's time to put these trimmers to work. I have approximately 80 feet of hedges that surround the front of my property and several other smaller shrubs around my home. The 122HD60 performed flawlessly and are very fuel efficient as well. The adjustable handle is very convenient for trimming the front and back facing square shaped shrubs. These are much lighter weight then my older commercial pair of trimmers as well. The motor is very low noise and the vibrations are very tolerable is these trimmers. With correct oil to fuel ratio's (50:1) and non ethanol fuel I think you can expect many years of service with these hedge trimmers. Now if I can get Husqvarna to supply me with a owners manual in English I would be happy. No I don't want to download a manual from the website when it should have been supplied in the box!
This trimmer is junk
from North Carolina
I don't write reviews, this is probably my first. I feel obligated to share how frustrating this trimmer has been. I've had it 10 months and used it 3 times, following the user manual exactly. After having problems I started researching and noticed all the fuel line issues in the comments below. After checking my fuel line, sure enough, it's totally eroded. I've loved my blower and mower, not sure why this particular product is made so poorly. Extremely disappointed especially considering the $300 I paid for this trimmer.
