Ethanol is the culprit
The 122HD45 was my first exposure to the Husqvarna brand. Positive online reviews of the product motivated my purchase. I bought it in Spring 2012 and used it for about 2 hours over the next 12 months. I carelessly stored it with fuel in it. I tried to use it recently, but it wouldn't start. I shipped it to Husqvarna to have them inspect it. The estimate to replace the carburetor and fuel lines was $89 and was not covered under warranty. I declined to service it. It cost $69 for the estimate fee. I took it to a local, reputable lawn equipment retailer and I was told Husqvarna products are unreliable and intended to be disposed of after reaching their useful life. I now exclusively purchase Stihl products that are serviceable at a reasonable cost and have better warranties.

Save your time and money
Same problem as everyone else. Won't run at full throttle unless at half choke. There is no fix for this so now it is junk.

Same problem as everyone else. Second time using them. Won't stay running. Dies when you give it throttle. Took to authorized dealer, he adjusted carb, I went back to job site and it ran for a few minutes and started doing same thing.

The hedge trimmer that could...
Right out of the box, I fueled the unit and couldn't be more impressed. Then, about the fourth time I used it, I couldn't get the unit started nor could I keep it running unless I left the choke engaged- an obvious air leak. I noticed (like many on these reviews) that the fuel supply line in the tank had disintegrated. I have four Husqvarna chainsaws, two weed trimmers that I purchased from Lowe's- all awesome and reliable products. The fuel filter and supply line system for the 122HD45 is unstable and absolutely unreliable. Husqvarna needs to recall this product and fix this problem immediately.

Fuel line issues
Just like several other posts I have read, the fuel line on my new trimmer failed. I replaced the line and have cleaned the carb several times, the only way this unit will run is with the choke half on and at full throttle. Not sure why a manufacture such as Husqvarna will not take care of this issue. I have chain saws and a garden tractor made by Husqvarna that have no issues. I have even tried to purchase a rebuild kit for the carb. but I can not seem to find a part number for it.

Defective Fuel Lines/Carburator
What junk. The unit started okay, but stalled whenever the throttle was squeezed. I inspected the fuel line and the black line inside the tank crumbled in my fingers. I replaced the fuel lines, cleaned the carb, but no luck - it would idle, but stall as soon as power supplied.
Reading other comments, this seems to be a common problem. Older HD45 versions were recalled because the rubber gasket on the fuel tank disintegrated.
I have a Husqvarna chain saw and I love it. I thought for sure getting a Husky hedge trimmer was the right call - but I was wrong. This product clearly does not live up to my impression of Husqvarna quality.

Very easy to start. Super quiet engine. Razor sharp blades cut like magic even on tough shrubs. Also seems to be very fuel efficient.
