HUSQVARNA YTA19K42 3.6 5 21 21
YTA19K42 Purchased this late last summer...only 19 Hrs on the mower. Already had transmission and bearing problems....just one cut since back from warranty repair....and transmission out again. Won't go forward or backward. Would not purchase this mower ever again. May 5, 2013
Meh I can see this mower working quite well for someone with a regular shaped lawn on a perfectly flat lot. The Good This has the best cut I have ever seen on a mid-priced riding mower. The engine, (my first Kohler) is runs very well. Having the ability to keep mowing when backing up without having to defeat ‘safety’ devices is great. The turning radius is very tight, which offsets its size. The Bad The front tire went flat in weeks, upon inspection, it is very cracked and had to be tubed. New tires shouldn’t come like this. Like many newer models you sit very high. Changing oil is very messy unless you add a small threaded pipe to the block. The deck height adjustment is in the way when you go to climb on and off. I have to swing my leg pretty high to miss it and it still likes to hook my shorts. The Ugly The transmission will slow to a stop when going up a small grade to another level of my yard. The control lever is touchy as a small amount of movement on the lever will go from stopped to full speed. This hydrostatic transmission is clearly not ready for prime time. For the price of a better make, I got a bagger included on this mower. Next time I will get the better piece of equipment. April 16, 2013
Transmission and Tire problems I always thought Husqvarna was a great brand name. However, after purchasing the HUSQVARNA YTA19K42 June, 2012, I have had a couple of problems. The first was the 2 front tires going flat. I found they had dry rot and were severely cracked throughout - worthless. Fortunately, Lowe's paid for the replacements - Husky would not as tires aren't warrantied - even on a brand new tractor. Never heard of such a thing. Second and a lot more major is my tractor just stopped running in the middle of mowing after only about 10 hours of use. Won't go forward or backward. I have a flat city lot about 15000 sq ft so not an abuse situation. Something wrong with the great hydrostatic transmission. I am taking it in for warranty repair next week. Doesn't seem right on a new machine. Very disappointed in Husky. I have a 15 year old Sears 12 hp that is more powerful and runs better than this one - since this one doesn't run at all. But Husky's sure look pretty! January 26, 2013
Great mower at reasonable price I bought this mower at the end of the mowing season, however I use it get around my place and do some light hauling. I believe it will give me good service. The few times I mowed I enjoyed the ease in handling and mowing. It started quickly and ran smoothly. December 25, 2012
Like the mower The mower runs well and does a really nice job of cutting. I'm concerned about the speed control. The manual says that the throttle should always be set at full speed, and that's what I've done. But the speed of the mower is set with the motion control lever, whcih the manual says should be moved to the desired position after releasing the parking brake. I have found that as I mow, the motion control lever slowly moves to the full speed position, which I then have to readjust. How can I make the motion control lever stay in the location I want it? I've had to repair twice within 30 days although I got an excellent cut, the hydrostatic transmission froze on me twice on two different tractors. After i complained about the problem initially the store gave me another unit, after 12 hours of use I began having the same problem. I just received the repaired unit back and i hope there will be no more problems. I woud like to speak directly with a manufacturer rep. I've had other Husqvarna products and had no problems, thats why I bought the tractor. If this problem persists I will ask for a refund. Again I would like a company represenative contact me. thank you November 10, 2012
Great Machine for the Price I have had mine for 5 seasons, and it works very well. No issues mechanically so far. Used for mowing 3/4 acre lot, hauling dirt, etc. using a trailer. The only real problem is that in thick and/or tall grass, you have to go over it twice as there is noticeably "ridge" in the middle between the blades. Got the grass catcher attachment, not a great idea for my situation (summer home) as it tends to plug very easily when the grass is tall. Have to mow without the grass catcher, let it dry and then mow again with the grass catcher to get the clippings off. October 18, 2012
Very Happy So Far I have never owned a lawn tractor before and was really looking for price and value. This tractor met both. I've been using in on my 3 acre property with excellent results. The Kohler engine has not given my any problems. The engine did stall once when I got into a patch of tall weeds with grass clippings all ready piled there, but otherwise the power is enough to do all I need. I also purchased the heavy duty trailer which is an excellent companion to the tractor. The mower deck was a little difficult to clean off when I ended up with a bunch of dirt clumps and grass on the top, but the hose cleanout for under the deck worked well. There is what appears to be a phone holder near the right knee which isn't large enough to hold an iPhone which was disappointing. I would recommend this as an excellent tractor/mower.
