Power to Spare. 26 HP is a lot of power so you can cut tall grass fast .It does have a problem with wheel spinning but I fix my tractor with wheel weights .Now it can go up and down step hills with easy . May 30, 2013
Will not go up hill We purchased the tractor less than two years ago. At first we love it, cut good, comfortable, designed easy to use. Started to mow this year and notice the tractor started to get slower. After mowing a couple times the tractor would stop moving when mowing up a hill. Changed the drive belt thinking that was the problem but did not resolve the issue. For the price I paid for this mower my expectation to would last longer than two year before having these problems. Excellent Machine This is my first rider. I have 2 acres and about 1.25 of that is irrigated pasture. Got tired of horses so I sold them and bought a rider to keep the grass mowed. This machine is great. It chews through 6-8 inch grass in the pasture with no problems. The 26 horse engine has power to spare even with the 54 inch cut moving up grade. On my lawn the cut is smooth and looks great. My neighbor liked the Husky so much he got rid of his ailing John Deere and bought a smaller model Husky. For the money I felt the LGT 2654 was the best buy after looking at Husky built Craftsman, John Deere, and Cub Cadet. In my search I tried not to get color blind and glad I didn't. After two months use I am impressed and feel the money was well spent on a quality product. May 15, 2013
4 Acres Just bought one from Lowes. First riding lawn mower for four acres. I wanted a John Deer as from what I researched seems that they have better service but the 2654 looked like it was slightly better built then the J.D.s setting in Lowes beside it. Got it home and started. The wife wanted to try it out as she'd never rode one. 2 and a half hours later property was done. She never let me back on. So I set in the shade and had a cold drink. Darn good mower. Can't tell you much about it though. Guess its hers now. May 11, 2013
Clutch issues Purchased tractor from local Lowes to mow a 1 acre yard. The tractor has plenty of power and seems to mow decent. However, this tractor was purchased to replace a Troybilt 2654 model that was purchased from Lowes as well which had to have the electric clutch replaced twice. Thinking that this issue was just a fluke, I purchased a new Husky 2654 and after 11 hours use, the clutch shorted out. I was not cutting tall grass or bogging down the mower when this occured. I take good care of my equipment, clean it after each use, and do all required maint. and would expect it to last at least several years for the price it cost. Anyway, it is under warrenty and was dropped off at Lowes to be sent out for repairs. Hopefully the clutch issue with these type of tractors is resolved since more and more people are reporting issues. May 11, 2013
Dont waste your money on this tractor While the tractor itself is nice, the mower deck is a mess. Front left corner of the deck has a section that drops down about an inch and a half below the rest of the deck. This leaves you with 2 mowing options. Either raise the deck off the ground just enough to keep this section off the ground, which leaves your lawn still looking uncut, or lower the deck 1 notch and the corner tears your yard apart. After 1 week I returned it and got a john deere that cuts the lawn quite nicely. May 7, 2013
LOVE THIS MOWER!!! I JUST FINISHED CUTTING MY LAWN THAT WAS VERY HIGH BECAUSE OF RELENTLESS RAIN. i DON'T NORMALLY CUT WHEN THE GRASS IS WET, BUT IT NEEDED IT BAD AS MORE RAIN COMING SOON. THIS MOVER CUT MY LAWN IN HALF THE TIME AS MY JOHN DEERE I JUST SOLD. POWERFUL, TURNING RATIO IS TIGHT AND SMOOTH. I LIKE THE HAND OPERATED SPEED CONTROL BETTER THAN USING MY FOOT. IT WILL TAKE GETTING USED TO BUT I LIKE IT! I WOULD HAVE TO AGREE WITH THE KEY REVERSE ISSUE, BUT IT'S A SAFETY THING. CAN'T WAIT TO CUT AGAIN!!! May 6, 2013
What a mess I bought my first LGT2654 54" and it had some problems. The hydormatic transmission kept slipping into reverse going up hill and it would bog down in 5" grass and it ripped more of the grass than cutting it. Now if that was'nt enough there was a rattle in the deck and the engine backed fired following the instructions. I took it back and exchanged it for another on and it was alot better except it does'nt cut very well and I belive there is not enough power going to the deck or they have put cheap blades on it. So, I took that one back and got the fasttracker 48" and am waiting to see how it works. to be fair, I used my Murry 40" 13hp mower next to it and it put the 54" to shame. April 14, 2013
