HUSQVARNA FAST TRACTOR™ YTH24K48
Wow what a lawn tractor
Read the owners manual followed instructions deck was level and trans was purged by Lowes in my drive way. Put gas in it and she fired up. Talk about a beast. Thick Florida always wet grass cuts clean first time. Clean up is easy power and handling are above average. It loves the big hill on front of house never know the difference. When time will up grade to mulching blades but that will be a while. Not crazy about the fuel gauge but I am sure they will fix this on the next models. I cut almost a 1/2 acre in under 20 minutes It takes longer to weed eat the edges. My wife wants to try it but I hide the key LOL. This is a solid machine.

Fast, Durable, Powerful... and Worth Every Penny
My neighbor and I went to Lowe's over President's day weekend. We were not 100% set on a Husqvarna, we were also considering a John Deere D110/D130. We both went home with new Husqvarnas and here is why: The YTH24K48 is, in my opinion, is a better built, better designed and a more durable tractor than the John Deeres.
The YTH24K48 has a metal hood as opposed to the plastic hood on the Deere. The metal hood on the Husqvarna has louvers and plenty of slots for the Kohler Courage engine to breathe. The 48" wide deck has a reinforced metal tube that surrounds the entire deck. I think this is going to be put to the test in 7 years, when my kid is big enough to mow. Additionally, the black wheels on the base of the Husqvarna deck are very wide. This is important for when mowing in sandy or damp yards. The wide wheel keeps the deck a float and prevents your blades from skimming dirt. On the John Deere, the wheels were much more narrower. Also, on the Husqvarna, the bracket the mower deck wheels are mounted to are thick and reinforced. The deck wheel bracket on the John Deere was thin and looked easy to bend/break.
I also chose the YTH24K48 over the smaller Husqvarna #YTH21K46# because the pully system on the YTH24K48 deck has grease fittings for easy maintenance of the pully system. I also chose the YTH24K48 because it is the fastest lawn mower under $2000. The John Deere mowers only went approximately 5 MPH #according to the Lowe's lawn mower catalog#. I live in SC and mowed my grass and weeds out of my yard yesterday #23 Feb 12#. I have a little over .5 acres, all flat. It took me 25 minutes to cut the entire yard. I probably have about 10 minutes of work left with my weedeater.
The tractor performed beyond my expectations when I used it, it was fast, it had no problem mowing over large and thick patches of 10" tall weeds, and it was easy to use. The design of the steering wheel is really great for quick turns at the increased speeds.
If you are like my neighbor and I, when you get home with this new machine, you want to gas it, start it, and test drive it. Who needs the owners manual right? So take note, you must "Purge" the tranny before you operate it. If you do not know about this step, you will become angry and think your new lawn mower is broken because the lawn mower will not move forward or backward when you press the pedal. This is really my first of two negatives that I do not like about this mower. I think Husqvarna needs to put a notice over the steering wheel about purging the system because men do not normally read the owner's manual first.
The second thing I do not like about my YTH24K48 is the arm rests mounted on the comfortable high back seat. I do not like the arm rests because they are in the way everytime you have to get off of your mower to open a gate, move a dog toy, a child's toy or even a large stick that fell out of a tree. I prefer to jump off, move the object to the spot I just mowed, and then get back on. Also, I do not have a large enough yard that requires me to stay on my mower for an hour or two, so I do not need them. The good part is, they are easy to remove.
One thing I have no knowledge/experience with is the use of Husqvarna's customer service. The Lowe's salesman told us that one great thing about John Deere was their customer service was phenominal. In the future, if I have to call on Husqvarna's customer service, I will update this review.
But overall, I doubt I'll be calling customer service because I think the engineers did an excellent job when they built this machine, they did not short change the consumer at all in ergonomics, performance, value, or power. I'm very pleased with my new mower and I look forward to cutting grass in half the time this summer.

Quality Built Machine
Purchased at Lowes and both the customer service and tractor ease of operation hase been great. Just moved into a new house and have not had the chance to use the mower deck, but have installed the Husqvarna Snow Blade attachment which by the way was extremely easy to install. Looking forward to using it clear my driveway which is twice as large as my previous house. I was also surprised how easy the mower deck came off the tractor. One small suggestion is to inspect the blade side of the mower deck for proper paint application. Several areas were light on paint and required touching up to prevent corrosion. I had also noticed comments about the oil drain valve being missing, but they may have looked at the wrong side of the engine. The valve is located directly beneath the starter and is somewhat hidden. They may have used the manufacturing plug on the opposite side which appears would create quite a mess.

Very difficult to find a decent lawn mower in Arizona and this one has performed very well so far. After i put on the mulching kit it has been even better. Keeps up very well and you can barely notice any lose in power when going over thick grass. I cut about 1 acre of grass in 40-45 minutes with no problem. Only improvement i would recommend is a better way to view how much fuel is remaining. Plastic sight glass is cloudy and need the right light to see the level clearly.

Joy to Ride!!!
I'll keep this short and sweet with a pros and cons list.
1. Good on gas
2. Lots of power (torque)
3. Wide cutting width makes cutting grass fast
4. Seat is very comfortable; along with steering wheel.
5. Arm rests are nice feature, the swing up to get out of the way too!
6. Mode to allow backward mowing is a huge time saver!
7. Turning radius is amazing for size of tractor.
8. Engaging the blades is a breeze with the "pull" button.
9. Better warranty than the "green" tractor.
1. Tubeless tires. I have had to change out both fronts already after 50 hrs.
2. Left foot rest area does not have a drain hole, so spraying tractor off with water causes an issue as water collects with no where to go.
3. Hood shakes quite a bit. There are rubber pads for the hood to sit on, but they are poorly attached. And have both fallen off. Now I have scratch marks from the hood sliding on body.
4. Gas gauge is poorly designed.
5. No place to put a jack under to lift up the front end or rear end to clean cutting deck or replace tires.

New Farm, New Tractor
My wife and I just bought a 2.5 acre hobby farm. The place had been foreclosed on and the beautiful pasture grass had not seen a blade or animal for quite sometime. While at the local Lowe's I spotted the returned tractors and found the YTH24K48 had been returned, tag said customer changed mind. I knew I would need one but thought I was going to have to hire someone with a bush-hog to cut it the first time.
Got it home, fired it up and said I just want to see how it does in the front yard were the grass is not as high. Wow, this beast blasted through like it was home. I did go very slow the first time through. It did take 2 full days to cut it all. That was me not yet knowing the land.
Now after several cuts I can do the whole place in about 2-3 hours ( lots of trees to cut around ). My wife, son, son-in-law all love cutting the grass with this monster. I picked up a garden cart attachment to haul fire wood and stuff to the compost piles, oh, and the dog like to ride back there too.
Now after 25 hours oil change and lube, running great. Oil change was quite a mess with the extension tube and drain valve not working so easy. I'll figure that out.
This is my first rider and so far I'm very happy with this lawn tractor. I did order the front bumper and will be ordering the Sun Shade for the hot Florida summer.

Can't wait til spring!
I got my Husqvarna "Fast" tractor at the end of the mowing season, but I got to use it once to mow my large yard with. I'm already looking forward to next years mowing season so I can get back on it. I had thought about a zero radius mower, but after using this one, it turns very sharply, has a wide, 48" deck, and is faster than the average mower, with more power as well. I feel good about my purchase and Lowes had 18 months no interest which makes it even better!

Purchased my YTH24K48 tractor in Oct. 2013. Delighted so far. I have cut my grass three times and this is one powerful and smooth riding tractor. So glad I got the 24 hp Kohler engine. I had the mulch kit installed and it really does a great job leaving hardly any trace of grass clippings. I had the grass deflector removed before having the mulch kit installed. This allows me to trim close to buildings, flower and tree beds from either sides of the tractor. I would recommend buying the tractor from a independent Husqvarna dealer that also services their tractors on site. My dealer also sold commercial tractors and other name brand tractors. I say this because such dealers do a great job in going over the tractor before delivery and can repair it if needed. You can always call the service dept. re: questions, etc. They make sure that the transmission has been purged as the manual recommends. They also check to make sure such items as the mower deck is level, tire pressure and all bolts ,belts etc. are tightened and adjusted properly. They also go over how to operate the tractor when they deliver it. You wont get that from a box store such as Lowes or Home depot. The pricing is generally the same but I got a better deal since I bought it at the end of the season and also was able to trade in my old lawn tractor! Here are some other suggestions: you must adjust your 4 anti scalp wheels on the mower deck to the height level that you want to mow your grass. Its easy to do and just follow the directions in the manual. There was some negative reviews about how the grass clippings and leaves get caught in the belt spindle covers on the mower deck. That is not a problem if you just lower the mower deck to the ground when finished, turn off the mower and use your driveway grass blower on each side of the black spindle cover to remove all the clippings. The turning radius is about 16 inches which is fine. Love the foot pedal drive! The reverse drive while the blades are engaged is also a nice feature. Make sure you review the manual before you operate the tractor . Although some of the sears craftsman mowers are made by Husqvarna, the are not as solidly built. Dont buy the Sears version. The speed of the tractor is also impressive.
