I read the reviews before I purchased my T540 XP saw and was wondering how they could all be rating this little saw so high. I purchased one to replace my climbing saw I have used for over 10 years. The reviews if anything didn't give this saw enough praise. If I had to sum up the performance, design and quality in one word I would say "very-very-impressive". I guess that is three words. When I am up in the tree, I don't have to worry about the saw shutting off. I just leave it running hooked to my belt.Great job Husqvarna, this is an amazing saw.

The idea behind putting a computer in a chainsaw is maddening. We have eight T540s, and every one of them has had to go in for carb replacement and/or repairs within the first 3-4 months. Dealers say that the saw needs to be run at full throttle for 3-5 minutes for the auto tune feature to adjust the carb properly for the conditions. That is just wildly inappropriate. These saws don't start reliably, they stall, and the latest version has snap down lids with metal cores that get extremely hot after use if you can get the saw to run properly. Nothing like waiting for ten minutes for the bar oil cap to cool before you can get back to work without getting your fingers burned. The redesign was good I'll admit, moving the air intake to the rear of the saw, and this model has better balance than the 338s, but the T540 needs major work. Dealer locally can't figure out the computer issues. Do yourselves a favor and switch to the Stihl 192T. Half the cost, twice the reliability.

Worst chainsaw ever made
from Meriden, Connecticut
I will never buy another husqvarna chainsaw for my company ever. The handle on the saw broke after about 2hrs of using it. I found many other cases of saw breaking online but husqvarna doesn't do anything about it. I'm now going to switch back to a better brand saw S T I H L.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Still stoll rules for top handles
By Alpen Tree Experts

I own 10 chain saws, including an ms200T ms201T and now a T540 XP. I still reach for the Stihls first. My 540 constantly stalls, which is a pain and a waste of time when you're in a tree trying to work efficiently. My biggest complaint is that it does not have any log dogs, which slows things down when you're chunking a tree down. Also, the lanyard ring is dead center on the back of the saw compared to the Stihls, which are offset. This means the saw gets hung up on branches more when you're trying to pull it up into the tree after your ground guys attaches it to your rope. I am not a brand loyalist when it comes to saws. I actually prefer mostly Huskys in the full size saws, but Stihl still rules in the top handle market.
Could have been a great saw if it would just run properly

About Me Do-It-Yourself
After reading of how the Stihl 201T was not performing well I decided to try this. It has been nothing short of a nightmare. I purchased this at the end of Nov 2015 and it has spent more time at the dealer than in my hands. It does not start good, after it starts it bogs and will not rev up even after playing with it for 30 seconds. After you do finally get it to stay running it is very inconsistent and stalls or cuts in and out if you put just a little too much load on it. In the dealers defense they gave me a new saw and it was no better at all and I just keep being told that it is fixed with a new software update. I have used the very expensive canned XP fuel from day one so they cannot fault my fuel. The fix is to buy a MS201TC ( not the T ) Yes, I had to buy another new saw while this was in the shop. I am just a homeowner trying to maintain my own woods, buying a pro saw should have been overkill. The MS201TC saw outperforms the 540 XP in every single way. The dealer ended up just refunding my money.

I waited over a year for this saw, when it finally came there was a stripped bolt holding on the pullstart cover. I fixed that no biggie, gassed it up and took it out. Well after a 10 min warm up I had to nurse it to full throttle because it was bogging so bad. Shut it off , re started and the same thing. Sent it to the dealer and they worked on it and had it for 3 months . I was excited to get it it back because this saw is supposed to be a beast and blow the 201 out of the water. Wrong, still bogs down , it's at dealer # 2 as I write this. What a disappointment, thank god i still have a 200 to use while this thing is in the shop, this is my first and last husky.
I was looking for an alternative to a 201 so I tried a husky since I heard great things. I got it and for 3 days it ran awesome. Day 4 the thing started running like garbage. No power wouldnt stay running had to choke fire choke and refire then day 5 it died. The air filter smelled like it been dunked in gas. Took it to the shop, week later told me bad carb and auto tune was go nuts so now i get to be out on whenever time till i get my new carb. Dont worry i got a stihl 192 that still works just fine thank you.

every thing is breaking
I have cut wood for over 20 years & for the most part this is a good saw BUT I have never had a saw where so many parts broke on it... I have NOT had the saw for even a year & the handle broke on it , the oiler quit working. The chain break guard fell apart...& the chain cover fell off a couple of times as I was running it. BUT the worst part is that I can't even get the parts that I need.... How do u put a brand new saw on the market & not have spare parts available ?????
