Love my saw Starts well, and performs. Will look at other products in the Husqvarna line. Works best to "choke" it to stop as it restarts better. February 24, 2011
Powerful, easy starting machine My Husqvarna 455 Rancher is a powerful easy starting machine. After reading the specifications and reviews and talking with owners and outdoor power equipment dealers I decided on the 455 Rancher and I'm very pleased that I did even though some previous Husqvarna owners and sales people weren't enthusiastic about them. I find mine to start very easily every time with very full pulls from a cold start. Once it's warmed up it usually starts on the first pull. I cut a mix of hard and soft wood with a 16" bar and the saw has more power than I need and has never bogged down in any position that I operate it. The physical size and shape gives me a steady feel when I operate the saw. The space in the handle is a little small for me to put my work boot in for starting, but I can at least get the toe of the boot in to securely hold the saw to the ground for starting. The owner's manual is easy to understand and I reread it each year before the first time I operate the saw. The compression release valve makes starting easier than saws without the valve. The start/stop switch and choke control are conveniently located. There aren't any full-line Husqvarna dealers in my area so it might be difficult to get service if the saw develops problems. Overall the saw was an excellent purchase for me and I'm extremely pleased with it. February 24, 2011
The best chainsaw ever. I have two acres of heavily wooded property. Needless to say, a good chainsaw is a must. When I purchased the 455 Rancher I got exactly what I needed. The power, and dependability of this saw amazes all my friends that have had the opportunity to use it. Once I let them get their hands on it they want to keep it for the day. Every person that has used it has said that this would be their next chainsaw. Need I say more? February 24, 2011
MY RANCHER I LOVE MY RANCHER IT WILL CUT LIKE NO OTHER SAW I HAVE EVERY USE. I TELL EVERYONE ABOUT IT. February 24, 2011
Excellant saw Pros: Easy to start, plenty of power. Cons: Chains don't last as long as they should for the price February 24, 2011
sweet machine I have had my saw for three years no trouble whatsoever tears up the trees wouldn't trade it for any other type go husky February 24, 2011
"Are you ready to be a MAN??" Then pick one of these bad boys up! I'm 5'8", 150lbs, and I've taken down 60, 70, 100 ft trees in a matter of seconds with my Husqvarna 455 Rancher. I bought a 1/2 acre lot with a house on 1/4 an acre and about 100 trees on the other 1/4, I was able to drop about 70 of them on my own with precision with NO problems, just sharpen your chain! Of course, I always keep 3 or 4 Husqvarna replacement chains handy so when I need a fresh chain, about 5 min. to change it, gas, and oil it and your good to go! I've had the "Craftsman", "Yardman", and others........NO COMPARISON!! February 23, 2011
Dependable This has been the best chainsaw that I have ever owned. I like everything about it, the weight is light enough for extended usage. Maintaining is fairly easy. Plan on purchasing a second one later this year. February 23, 2011
