The 455 is powerful enough for just about any job.
I have been using the Rancher for about three years now and have cut about 50 cord of wood. It is a very good saw with good power. The chain is the biggest surprise. I have used many other brands (including stihl) in the past and this chain lasts forever. I use the hand sharpening tool to sharpen it every time I saw. Another surprising aspect of this saw is the fuel economy; the Rancher is an incredible machine in that it is so easy on fuel. Way to go Husqvarna!

Amazing Saw
This is a great saw at a great value. around $400 for a 55cc saw is great. the 20 in bar and chain is a perfect size, not to big or too small. 3/8 chain is great for ripping through trees. keep you chains sharp and this saw cuts like butter, literally. Its hard to bog it down, unless there is some pinching. Decompression valve does it job. My next will be the 71cc xp series one, the 372 XP or i will try a stihl equivalent just to see which manufacturer is superior. Amazing saw, had to replace a few parts, but i might just be hard on this saw, not sure who to blame, ha ha. Chain tentioner is a good design and easy to use, but the nub on the inside of the shroud on mine broke off for no reason. Luckily i had a spare shroud laying around, so no productivity lost :) !

Good Saw
It is a good all around saw. I cut primarily oak on my property for fire wood and it does a great job. My old gripe is using a plastic 'cog' where the chain brake engages, after a bad jam, that plastic part got a little managed trying to replace the chain. Spend the extra dollar and replace it with a metal component.

The best chain saw ever
I have owned them all. Was never happy with any of them. Bought my first Husky 12 years ago and my second recently. They have never failed me. I love the new chain tightner system on the recent model. Its quick and easy. No tool required. What else can a guy say?

Outstanding chainsaw
I replaced a saw I'd had for perhaps 20 years, and I was knocked out by how easy the Rancher is to start. It just keeps going and going, and once I sorted out the timing for tensioning a new chain, I havn't had any problems at all. I really appreciate the one pull starting after the saw has sat for a couple months. Also, my dealer in San Francisco has given excellent advice and support. Plus an excellent purchase price. I'm sold.

The right saw!!!
My family and I use wood as a primary source of heat in our home and shop, so we (as you would guess) require a large amount of wood. The temps here can get down in the teens for weeks, so we will burn through cords of wood in one winter. After owning a Stihl of comparable HP (and nearly twice the price), and several other saws, I was not very satisfied with their performance or reliability. I took the advice of a friend (who runs a tree service) and purchased a Husqvarna chainsaw. After doing a lot of research (trust me), and reading hundreds of reviews and testimonials I purchased a 455 Rancher. Listen folks, this is the saw. If you really need to depend on your saw to work when the time comes, buy the Husqvarna 455. This saw starts very easily (the compression release is awesome), and has a fully suspended handle for great vibration reduction. The best part of owning my Husqvarna, is the power, plain and simple. I spend a lot less time cutting now, and more time enjoying the fire. I would add that those who suffer "buyers remorse" (even before you leave the store), this saw will deliver you from your guilt... I cannot say enough about this saw other than (yea, it sounds strange) I love my saw. My daughter says I giggle every time I start it. The plain truth is I have spent and wasted a lot of money on saws and my Husqvarna is the best purchase (with the least guilt) I have ever made.
