Great Saw! I love my Rancher. Its has all the power a nice size 20" bar and is always reliable! Its a little heavy and arms can get tired after extended use, but that is my only gripe! February 24, 2011
455 Rancher 20in bar Bought saw in Oct. 2009. This has been fantastic. Starts every time on the first pull winter or summer. Cut down 10 trees last year. Size between 12-25 inch dia. Got about 15 cords of wood and 10 ton of branches, with zero problems. Planning on thinning another 6 trees this year. February 24, 2011
Poor bar/ chain performance I have only had my saw for about 1 year. I have gone through 3 sets of chain. Not due to wear but excessive streching past the bar adjustment. I think a got a bad bar. Lowes stated the could not help me. So what can be done? February 24, 2011
RANCHER 455 - ALL YOU NEED HURRICANE IKE BLEW DOWN OVER 30 OLD OAK TREES, 40-50 FT TALL. BY MYSELF I HAVE CUT AND SPLIT 20-25 OF THE TREES, FOR ABOUT 10 CORDS OF GOOD COOKING & FIREPLACE WOOD. VERY DURABLE, LONG LASTING CHAIN, GOOD LUBRICATION. ENCOUNTERED NO PROBLEMS WITH THIS SAW OVER ALMOST 3 YEARS SINCE THE HURRICANE. I WOULD RECOMMEND TIS SAW TO ANYONE WHO NEEDS FAST CUTTING & ALL DAY USE. VERY GOOD PRODUCT, WORKS AS HARD AS YOU DO, MAYBY HARDER. THANKS TO THIS SAW MY 11 ACRES LOOKS AS GOOD AS EVER. MR. Would purchase again What can I say, I am just happy with the product. The compression release during starting is wonderful. The vibration dampening is awesome for a long day of work. I use this model at home and also during wildland firefighting for the last couple years. If I could ask for one thing, I would just want a built in spot to store the T-Tool. February 24, 2011
Getting the job done This saw is serving it's purpose very well. it is a little heavy for trimming and clearing, but work well for wood cutting. February 24, 2011
455 rancher This is an awesome saw, I bought it to replace an older model 51. I have cut trees that are 48" across the stump, there is no lack of power. My only concern is that the original chain and bars don't last very long. I have went with the oregon bar and chain, other than that I would recommend it to anyone that has used a chainsaw before. This Chainsaw KICKS BUTT!! In a word, this chainsaw kicks butt!!! I own 5 acres and periodically need to trim and cut down trees, and this saw really makes short work of these types of chores. Also, we heat our home with a wood stove, which means cutting firewood... LOTS of firewood. Since purchasing this saw, I have spent less time cutting firewood, and more time sipping lemonade! The only downside to this saw is that after using it for a while, it can become heavy in your hands, but considering the raw, unrestrained power at your fingertips, it is definitely a worthwhile trade off. Also, one word of warning.... due to the power of this saw, smaller branches have flipped back up and hit me in various "tender" places, so try and use this saw for larger diameter wood and not small branches when cutting up firewood!!
