HUSQVARNA 455 Rancher 4.7 5 703 703
Run Forest... Run. After much debate amongst the boys at the barber shop in the great Husqvarna/Sthil debate of 2010, my wife decided to call it quits on the arguement and call up one of my Pop's ol' buddies, a professional logger from Oregon and settled the arguement for us. His company uses them exclusively. I took a mosey over to my local Tractor Supply Store and plunked down the requsite $400.00+tax for this wolf in sheep's clothing. Over the years I've used Craftsman, McCulloch, Echo and Sthil but I have never been as impressed with a machine as I have been this 455 Rancher. With two twenty year old sons and two future son-in-laws rolling rounds, splitting and loading the truck and trailer I managed to keep far enough ahead of them to have a sit and sip coffee while I was refueling/re-oiling and touching up the chain. Easy to start, easy to restart, easy to keep clean, easy to chain swap, easy everything, and fellas, she'll chew wood into sawdust faster than it take to tell it. She's been in the woods a solid year now and cut more firewood than I can remember with no breakdowns other than a busted chain. January 25, 2012
Leaks like a sieve! Runs great, but unless you like to buy bar oil, this saw is not for you. I've had mine to the shop four times, and despite efforts to repair it, it leaks more oil than it used. Customer service says "all our saws leak, so you have to drain it after each use". The Rancher 455 is a leaky yourself a favor and DO NOT BUY THIS SAW! Customer Service will not stand behind this saw and denies their design failure. July 15, 2015
Exceptional do it all saw! Replaced my 15 year old 350 with this saw. Starts right up. Tears through wood like butter. Throws big wood chunks where my old 350 threw saw dust. This is a serious tool in great Huqvarna lineage. You won't regret this purchase. June 26, 2015
455 Rancher is a beast! I have other Husqvarna saws and this one tops them all. Plenty of power for the moderate user. Easy start up. Can use all day and not feel te effect do to the unique handle design. May 16, 2015
SAW will not last more than 2 years I am a homeowner I cut my own firewood and cut a few trees. I would say average to fair amount of use. I cut 2 times a year spring and fall. Saw ran great, cuts well but after 2 years seems the piston is shot it will cost over 300 to fix a 400 saw! Don't buy this model it is JUNK ! NOT QUALITY at all I wish u could see how nice this saw looks very new look clean case and all perfect handle. I did not get my money out of this Husqvarna. I am going with STIHL next time!!! Strong saw, durable and long lasting. I've had this saw going on 5 years now, and it's been the best saw I've ever owned. Prior to this was a pouland and a stihl. Both would be difficult to start after a month in the shed, but not this saw. 8+ months later, and it fires up right away. Thirsty, drinks fuel at a pretty decent rate. Same with bar oil, but I have the oiler on max. I've buried the 22" bar in 36" rounds and worked my way through with minimal effort. I like bumper spikes being made out of thick steel, they dig in nicely and take a lot of labor out of it. I wish that chains lasted longer. I can take a new chain dull in a matter of hours cutting hard woods. I have 3 chains, one fresh, one at the sharpener, and one on the saw. They're husqvarna brand chains, and they just don't stay sharp. On top of that they're expensive. Also the chain tensioner seems to work it's way loose on me, there's no way I should need to tighten the chain after an hour of cutting. Also, when changing the chain I forgot to release the brake. So I released it with the side cover off. A tiny spring shot directly over my shoulder, out the garage door, and into a fresh 24" of snow that came down the night before. So it was gone forever and now I have no brake. I'd like to think the people that designed the working part and the people that designed the brake were not the same people. I don't use it every day, and the fact that it starts for me easily every time is nice, whether it sit for a week or 10 months. April 16, 2015
Best saw I have ever owned I purchased this saw to replace an older one that was taken and so glad the old was stolen ,this saw is a dream to use and I can't say enough about it . Easy starting and low viberation and it cuts great ! I would never purchase anything else other then Husqavarna from now on best product in my opinion ever made ! And I'm planning on buying and replacing other items I have to Husqavarna also Great product !! March 25, 2015
Ideal saw for landowners I've got 6 acres with plenty of trees and this is the ideal saw for someone like me. Sometimes it sits for months (like 9 or 10) but starts by the 3rd pull every time. It's easy to maintain and clean. Best of all, with a sharp chain, it'll cut anything I can carry it to! Felling, limbing, cutting firewood... you name it, it can handle it. Somebody else said it here, but it bears repeating: it cuts like a beast! Do yourself a favor - get some quality hearing and eye protection. Better yet, get an all-in-one helmet/face shield/ear cover unit. Then go get 'em! March 19, 2015
