newbie purchaser of 450 chainsaw
Well I purchased this chainsaw recently from Amazon and it is my first. Assembly was do-able for a chainsaw newbie. Manual was satisfactory but not great and tiny pictures on a different page were a nuisance. The user instructions were helpful and I bought the HUSQVARNA protective gear helmet after reading. The 450 had good power and I was able to cut pretty big logs and the like. Ergonomics are good but it has some weight so need to be careful if stretching to access a branch. My back was a tad sore after using but probably my own inexperience. Startup was ok even in cool weather.
My BIG issue with the 450 was the chain tension adjuster: I noticed that chain sagged and I had to repeatedly check and tighten per instructions. Today, I again had to tighten before use, but chain came entirely off after about 15 min of use. Putting the chain back on was a major hassle and I finally realized that at least one link hinge was frozen, plus a few teeth that go into the chainsaw bar (slot) were broken off a bit. So I'm now off to Sears to buy another chain even though I have only used the 450 four times.
So the bottom line is that I wouldn't recommend this for someone like me (newbie) unless the person had an experienced neighbor or coworker to advise. In retrospect, I probably should have gone to the local hardware store to purchase from someone knowledgeable about chainsaws rather than buying online.

Bought this product to clear my property. Use it for several long days and it performed well. Bought Husqvarna sharpening kit for it, this kit sharpens chain easy and accurately. This is the first Husqvarna product I have ever purchased and so far I am very satisfied.

Expensive Paper weight
I had owned a Stihl chainsaw for over 15 years and never had the bar plug up. I used my brand new Husqvarna twice and already had to take it into the service center, as the sprocket in the bar locked up. Service Center said because of wet saw dust in the bar. I advised that that is normal, as Self oiling chain + saw dust = wet saw dust. I called Husqvarna to advise of issue. I spoke with Jessica in Escalations x8398 and she advised that you must clean the bar regularly to avoid this problem. I advised that this happened during operation, she said my only option was to see if the retailer would accept the return of the unit, as she did not consider it defective.
I advise d her that I will never again buy another product from Husqvarna again, as this is not normal for a chainsaw.

I have not used a chain saw before I purchased the 450 and I found it very easy to handle.

Great New 450
Having only bought the new 450 a few weeks ago, not had a lot of chance to use it, although at this point, I am really satisfied with the easy starting, "zippy power" lower vibration and nice balance. It is a partner to my old #55 that I've run for years. I don't know the RPM difference between the two saws but the new 450 seems to be considerably faster. So far 100% satisfied.

I had a 350 before this that I had a problem with but I gave you another chance . If I have a problem with this one I will have to try something else. Thanks

Almost dummy proof
Husqvarna almost made the product dummy proof. I liked how they numbered the steps for starting it. Not having much experience with a saw giving a step by step really helped. I thought it had plenty of power for it's size & weight. So far the only thing I haven't liked was after it sat for awhile it started leaking bar chain oil. After servicing it I was informed that it is common but an easy fix so nothing really to worry about.
