needs better quality control.
I have had 3, 440 husq chainsaws in the past year. All 3, i have had to take back to lowes, or order new parts to fix. The last one i used 3 times and already having to buy a new coil off amazon. I know, fairly cheap to replace a coil, ($43), but its very aggrivating to have replace stuff on something so new. I have an 10 yr old husq saw, and it has been great to me. As soon as Husq sold out to Poulan, their quality control has been very poor. My 30 day return policy has expired from lowes so now im stuck with it. used to be a big fan of husq. The new ones start easy for about the first 3 times you use them. And i use their (PREMIXED FUEL-50-1). after that it has been down hill for me. I also have a new husq weedeater. the one you can put diff attachments on. its been good to me so far. 9 months. kinda hard to start at times but i have a pole saw attch for it and i really like it. I am not biased towards any brands, just expect my hard earned money i spend on equipment to last. not sure if management reads these reviews, hopefully they will pay more attention to QC. Until then i will be waiting on a new replacement part to fix agin.

I just won a 440 saw at a Christmas raffle and am very much looking forward to using this machine. I own an old 16 inch Husqvarna saw I've had for 14 years with no concerns at all. My older saw has heated 4 houses in 4 different states and has been one of the best products I've ever owned. I purchased a new Stihl 2 years ago against my better judgment, but I work for the owner of the store. It has been one of the worst pieces of equipment I've ever owned and breaks down at least twice a year with bar and chain oiling issues. It is currently on it's third oil pump. I read through the 440 Husqvarna reviews and must say that those people out there with issues must not be maintaining their saws properly or don't understand how to adjust the saw for optimum performance. Altitude has a major effect on both ease of starting and performance. I am disappointed that my wood is already cut for the winter so I'm going to go out this weekend and find someone who needs cutting done just so I can use this new saw.

Lasts for 6 months
I've owned this saw for 6 months. The first few times it worked great, plenty of power, started easily and cut very well. Slowly it started having starting issues then eventually it was having running issues. Took it to the dealer for some adjustments only to find out that the engine is sucking in air from somewhere. The saw will only run for about 5 minutes, has no power and is very difficult to start. I never let the saw sit for long periods of time with gas in it, always used high test gas and husqarna 2 cycle oil. I bought this saw based on previous reputation with this brand and needledd to say I am very dissapointed at this point.

Love this saw! Lots of power! Easy to start! Shut it off several times to pick up limbs, It started right back up.Most of the people who have had problems starting the saw haved flooded it, I believe! I used it yesterday to trim my trees up. Worked great! I gave it a 3 on durability because I have only used it once. It cut through the limbs like they were butter. Some people wrote that they were having trouble with idol. I had no problem with it idoling.

This is my 3rd Husqvarna product I've bought. I have yet to be disappointed by any Husqvarna products. In the store, i compared this 440 model with the 18" bar and the similar model with 16" bar. They both have the same motor, so i was concerned the 440 would be under powered. I was wrong, this saw has plenty of power. Filling with fuel and bar oil is very easy. Its light and easy to handle. The fuel tank seemed small compared to an older off brand saw i used in the past, but the efficient fuel usage made a tank last a long time. 2 cons to this saw: its hard to start when its cold and it didnt come with a storage/carry case.

I bought the 440 chainsaw because I heard that it was a quality chainsaw and because the staff at Lowes informed me that it was easy to start and durable. I work on various kinds of lawn equipment and therefore own various tools. Had I not had the special carborator drivers, I would have had to go through the hassle of taking my brand new 440 to a repair shop to tune the carb. I would exepct that most people dont own these tools or know how to use them and therefore would not have been able to use their brand new 440. Would it not be more convenient for all involved (customer and company) if a brand new piece of equipment was properly adjusted at the time of purchase?

I was disappointed in the 'exceptionally easy start' sales pitch. I bought it for the 'easy start' feature and found this was not so true for me. In fact, the third time used (10 days after purchase) I was unable to get it started and brought it in to local dealer for service. They said I had flooded carb and charged me $25 to inspect and clean it up. It works now but is by no means an easy start. The dealer even commented that a recent customer had in fact just returned a Husqvarna for this very reason.
