HUSQVARNA 440 e-series
Cut 4 cords in a day and I ran out of gas!

It is so nice to finally have a saw that starts easily. This is a very well built saw w/ plenty of power. The only problem is the manual. It appears to have been written by the legal dept. It is 80% warnings & 20% useful information. A new owners manual needs to be written by someone that actually uses a saw & knows what information a new owner needs. There needs to be much more detailed information on how to service & maintain the saw.

I have used the chainsaw after it arrived a few days. It started after 3 pulls and I cut couple of wood logs to try. It worked just very good.

Timely buy with good value
I took delivery on this just before Hurricane Irene hit July 2011 to take care of trees damaged by a microburst six weeks prior. This has proven to be an excellent saw that keeps the power band up when doing heavy cutting. The chain adjustment system (no tools) is great when in the woods and allows changing chains without carrying extra stuff beyond chains, gas and bar oil. Definetely read the manual to understand the right start procedure which is easy to do. Great saw for the money.

great home saw
bought this saw to cut up a fallen tree in the yard. It worked flawlessly right out of the box. Cut that tree like butter, it was actually fun to use. So much so I decided to cut down 10 fairly large junk trees in the yard I did not want there and sawed them to firewood size. It cut the same start to finish, excellent balance and control with a chain apparently made of Kryptonite. I have used it on fence posts, and treated lumber with the same results. starts first time every time and the chain is still sharp! I remember my last saw, a craftsman. What a hassle that saw was with constant repairs and chain replacements. never again. I highly recommend HUSQVARNA saws, I can only imagine how good their high end saws are.

440e recommend with some reservations
The 440e does what it is supposed to do and does it well. HOWEVER...the tool less chain tensioner is NOT one of Husky's better ideas. When you need to remove the bar or chain its not too bad to remove. But getting it back on is a nightmare! Took me AN HOUR to get-it back on. Give me 2 hex nuts to hold the bar to the saw ANY DAY! I'll' deal with the inconvenience thank you! Did the engineers who design this ACTUALLY TRY to reassemble it? The manual is also a weak point. It says nothing about E85 gas. I called customer service about this and they answered my inquiry. Th manual also INCORRECTLY states that it is OK to use 87 Octane gas. NOT TRUE! Go to the Husky website and they recommend 89 Octane gas NOT 87. If I had not gone to the website I would never know this. While were at it how about a BETTER pictorial with a written description about re installing the bar/chain tool less tensioner that I am griping about? And make sure the picture ACTUALLY MATCHES the 440e saw PLEASE? Yeah eventually I figured it out, but I will not buy another 440e.

Excellant saw for the price
Probably the best saw I have ever owned, easy starting, great power, its new so I can not attest to its durability time will tell but I suspect a long life. It has better fuel consumption than my old Craftsman and Mccullogh saws did and is a bit lighter and quieter, the item that clinched the deal for me on this saw was the tool less chain adjustment feature no more reaching for the wrench to constantly tighten the chain.
I highly recommend this saw for the homeowner!!

Needed a chain saw fast with a large fallen tree from a storm. Tried several brands in the past with eventual failures. The 440 e was surprisingly light but powerful. Any saw will cut if running well and sharp, but this baby didn't even grunt while cutting a hardwood trunk as wide as the blade. I really like the chain tighener adjustment for ease of use and not having to take the saw apart for this task. It was hard starting at first when cold. I finally learned how and when to choke it. Best to get the dealer to show you before you take it to the field. I think this one is going to last me a lot longer.
