HUSQVARNA 240 3.7 5 131 131
Great saw for the occasional user I bought this saw this week and have already put about three tanks of fuel through it. I badly needed to prune some pine and oak trees around my house. They were just getting to big. I was thinking of getting the 435 but thought to myself how often do I need a chainsaw?. I went to my local outdoor power equipment dealer and bought the 240 and saved quiet allot. The specs on both saw's are similar but I figured I really didn't need that little bit of extra power that the 435 has. I brought the 240 home mixed up some fresh 50:1 fuel. I used 93 octane since its what I run in all my small 2 cycles. I filled the oiler tank and had it running soon after. It started on the third pull out of the box. The idle was a little low but I adjusted it and now she idles fine. I let the saw warmup for a little and then went easy of the first couple of cuts to make sure everything was okay. After that I just went to town on all the over grown trees around my property. This saw has more than enough power for my needs. 5 inch branches are no problem for this saw. It just eats through everything. Also the 18inch bar gives me that little bit of extra reach that I needed. So two hours later and she was still running great. When I was finished I cleaned off the saw and took the top cover off to check the air filter. It was still almost perfectly clean. I guess the air injection feature really does work. I also like the vibration damping feature, It works very well. The saw hardly vibrates at all. Its also one of the quieter saw's I've owned. While I had the top cover off I decided to take the spark plug out and check the cylinder to see how it was inside. The bore was nice and shinny with good cross hatching marks. It still didn't look like it was even used. Over all I'd say I'm very happy with my purchase. As for the reviewers that say the clutch cover is cheap. Well the only thing I have to say to them is make sure the adjustment peg is aligned up with the hole in the bar before you try to tighten up the clutch cover and also only adjust the chain tension with the two nuts loose. If you try and adjust the chain tension with the bar nuts still tightened it will break the adjustment screw or the cover. As for the saw leaking chain oil, Guess what every gas chainsaw does this. It doesn't matter who makes it they all do it. I've had several different brands and everyone of them leaks chain oil when it sits. How do you fix this problem?. Drain the chain oil back in to the bottle, problem solved. Overall the build quality to me is just as good as the 435 but for a lower price. I'd say go for this saw if you know your going to use it for smaller jobs. Thanks Husqvarna for making affordable quality outdoor power equipment. Every peace of hand held equipment I own is Husqvarna and it has all held up very well. August 11, 2012
Worked great until.... This saw worked great until the chain bar bent. My wife bought this saw from Sears, so I tried go there to buy a replacement bar.Once there, they told me to go to their web site because they did not have any in stock. So I followed their directions, I looked for the replacement bar on the Sears website and could not find one their. I then started IMing with from their customer service agents and they could not find the replacement part either. He suggested I go to a Husqvarna dealer which I did. The team working that day could not find/determine the proper replacement bar for the 240 model (it had an 18 inch bar but according to their catalog it should have been a 16 inch bar) and they were reluctant to give me a blade that may have been incorrect (for safety reasons). So they told me to go back to Sears. So I went back to the Sears. The sales person at the store then sent me to their replacement parts store hoping they could help me. Once their, I watched the woman at the desk try to locate the bar using the specs given on their web site and again she could not find the replacement blade. She actually gave me a replacement bar from a different brand that said it was compatible with a 240e model. I have been reluctant to put on the saw because my model is not a 240e (it is 240) and I am not sure if it compatible. Needless to say, I have gone to 4 stores and two web sites and I am not sure if I really have the correct bar. July 14, 2012
Only ran 30 minutes After running for 30 minutes, quit idling completely and needed continuous restarting to use. Took to authorized dealer who adjusted the carburetor, charged $25, not covered by warranty because this is a gas issue according to Husqvarna customer service, even though manual suggests saw may need adjusting. This effectively has added $100's of dollars to cost especially since tool to adjust is not available. This is basically a use once and throw away $200 item. VERY unhappy. This was my first Husqvarna and will be my last. July 9, 2012

Model 235 Bought new 235 cause I needed a lightweight saw , I was impressed with the 235 overall for just cleaning up around the pasture and house. I have a 55 rancher that I've used for 15 years but it is just to heavy to trim limbs with . There was no doubt I was buying another husquvarna product after the service I have received with weedeater, chainsaw, blower and mower, the oldest is my 55 rancher at 15 years old. July 8, 2012
Does the job I bought this to do some tree cleaning around the house. It has done a great job and I would recommend this to a friend. I do wish it was easier to start. July 5, 2012
Grreat basic duty chainsaw This saw is perfect for the average user. Someone that uses the saw like I do could not be happier. You get the Husqvarna name and quality for a great price point. This 240 cost me $179 and is well worht it. There are cheaper saws out there for this type of use, but thats what t hey are --- CHEAPER. For occasional firewood cutting to seasonal tree trimming, this smaller lighter saw can't be beat. July 3, 2012
Good Saw I had some trouble when I first got this saw.(hard to start chain keps poping off)But... It was all my fault..Read instructions and use 89+ octane gas and husky's synthetic mix.I had a custom chisle chain made for it and all I got to say is... It is a little beast! I use it atleast 3 days a week (firewood buisiness)It cuts better than some of my larger saws.If you use it alot.. keep up on the maitenence on it and it will serve you well. This is my first husqvarna saw and I'm seriously impressed.I will soon going to buy a 440 and a 460 saw to replace my other saws When you first buy this saw break it in properly and you will love it!
