Husqvarna Introduces New Manual Reel Mowers and Reduced Carbon Footprint for Homeowners

LOUISVILLE, Ky. [October 23, 2008] – For homeowners seeking less impact on the environment when mowing, Husqvarna offers two new alternatives now for sale in the U.S., the 540 Novolette and the 54 Exclusive push reel mowers. These new models offer easier maneuverability, require no gas and oil, have zero emissions and offer a quieter mowing experience. Homeowners can reduce their carbon footprint with a cost-efficient alternative to lawn care, which is especially important given rising gas prices. These manual type mowers also provide the operator with a chance for healthy exercise in the great outdoors while reducing environmental impact.

The 540 Novolette and the 54 Exclusive are designed for smaller lawns with limited slope. Their five blades offer superior quality of cut with a cutting width of 16 inches. Their larger 8-inch wheels make for easier maneuverability.

The Husqvarna® 54 Exclusive offers homeowners good value in a reel mower. The bed knife on the 54 is always in contact with the blades which means the blades are being sharpened while the operator is mowing.
The 540 is Husqvarna’s premium “silent” reel mower. The reduced friction between the blades and the bed knife makes the machine extremely quiet during operation and it minimizes resistance making the mower easier to push. The bed knife is then occasionally manually adjusted to contact the blades for sharpening. The 540 Novolette offers an ergonomically-designed handlebar complete with comfort soft grip which contributes to homeowner comfort.

The Husqvarna 540 Novelette and the 54 Exclusive are designed for low-cut grass types like Bent Grass, Bermuda, Centipede and Zoysia. Each have an easily-adjustable height of cut between 0.5 inch to 1.5 inches and a grass clipping collector accessory that easily attaches to the mower for a cleaner look after mowing is complete.
